I secretly enjoyed that page and would occasionally browse it, but only from a bookmark in my browser. I never Liked the page and I never interacted with any of the photos because it felt creepy for Facebook to show that activity to my family and friends without context, especially with the page's sus name. 😅

They consider all virtual worlds to be part of this ethereal concept of "the Metaverse". This is so unhelpful as to be bewildering.

The crux of the problem is this: most people are building a metaverse-as-a-platform instead of metaverse-as-a-protocol. The people building metaverse-as-a-protocol are missing the key ingredients: it must be permissionless and thermodynamic. There is only one metaverse that is a permissionless thermodynamic protocol: #cyberspace built on nostr.
If you are on #nostr, there's a good chance you understand the difference between platforms and protocols. If you are a bitcoiner, there's a good chance you understand why thermodynamics matters when it comes to creating something digital and consequential.
I happily contradict #OMI in declaring:

#cyberspace is "The Metaverse" and all other virtual worlds are inconsequential video games.

I think it's incredibly bullish to watch what miners do. There's only 6.4% of supply left to mine and they are investing MILLIONS into massive facilities and it's just getting started.
For reference, 200MW is like 4x the power consumption of my entire city. For one mining facility!

I appreciate the balanced take.
I honestly just see politicians as those who have adopted a set of incentives that don't necessarily align with ours. Typically it plays out badly. But it is what it is. Bitcoin fixes it to a large degree.
Honestly, his action against gangs is refreshingly decisive. Imagine giving every gang member a trial as they slaughter and kill and steal with impunity. Nope. Swift death or a cell if you are part of that crowd. It was absolutely a war that could only be won that way. I'm not endorsing all of Bukele's actions, but just saying the alternative to what he did would NOT have worked whatsoever.
