It is fucked up, but it was also provoked. Repeatedly.

The saddest thing in life is the loss of innocence. When something pure has been corrupted and cannot be repaired.

We all enter the world full of joy, energy, hope, wonder, and optimism. We are a blank canvas where any beliefs can be instilled into us and magic is possible. My parents were magicians.

Everything we see is new and magnificent. So many firsts, and so much time. I remember the first time I learned about Dinosaurs and the concept that there was unique life before us. I was ecstatic. I ran around my house full of joy and curious happiness.

Over time, all the magic becomes normalized. You start to understand the mechanisms behind the brilliant tales you were told and the beautiful creations you have experienced. Things that once seemed miraculous become mundane, and more evil is revealed.

Many become broken down and lose their innocence over this process. Whether it be the death of someone close, heartbreak, failure, substances, insecurities, toxic relationships, or general tragedies, life slowly reveals it's harsh, temporary, unforgiving nature. Some of the innocent thrills of novel, pure experiences linger in the background as memories from another reality. And the knowledge that you can never change the evil and tragedy which has occurred can be oppressive.

So when you see that innocent light inside of someone else, protect it. And when you yourself are feeling down, try to remember the incredible, brilliant beauty which can be found in the ordinary. Life is a beautiful journey and anything is possible. Good beats evil and we can live in the moment while learning from the past.
