Is there a way in the US to buy bitcoin without going through an Exchange? I don't like that you have to register giving all your personal information bc you know they are regulated by politicians and government agencies.
Does there exist a single directory that lists everyone and everything that accepts and/or uses #btc?
I'd like to see professionals who offer services, a job board for employers who pay in #btc, farmers markets where you can buy fresh local produce, etc. Basically a directory to help raise awareness and enable people to transition more to a btc based lifestyle. If not, I've been in software engineering for 20+ years and would be happy to help create one if the community would support it and thinks it's needed. I know I would use it.

thanks for the info. just ordered 1st hardware wallet, bought some btc, got wallet of Satoshi setup (I think) and starting btc & block chain research.
When you move off an exchange to a hardware wallet is it just sending it to another address? I'm guessing you have to pay miner fees to move to your hardware wallet?
I really want to believe in #bitcoin but what has to happen to make it where I can buy gas & groceries and everyday expenses with it? Please don’t suggest to convert from fiat to bitcoin and back to fiat when needed b/c the fees kill your balance and it’s not practical.
