our universities have become hedge funds and our hedge funds have become universities
San Francisco throwing a pop up Monday rave to accelerate technology (check those banners). If SF re-identified it’s “cypherpunk meets hippie” roots and began shipping tools for people again rather than getting lost in political bureaucracy and corporate welfare then the world would be a lot better place.
bitcoin sock history:
we live during incredible times
1. you can start a bitcoin mining pool
2. you can fly (yes, fly!) across the world
3. you can broadcast you are doing facts 1 and 2 across the internet
the amount of peaceful cooperation required to accomplish all of the above is remarkably underappreciated 🫶☮️
"The nature of Bitcoin is such that once version 0.1 was released, the core design was set in stone for the rest of its lifetime."

It would be funny to see mainstream media bring the attention to Nostr that they brought to r/WallStreetBets during the GameStop squeeze nostr:note19juupv5qjzq058qrsfkzpp65su4zqk8zexrr3qph35dclj0rgarsp72yru
them: #bitcoin ‘ers are religious
also them (explaining the financial system): “the Delphic prophet was just ambiguous enough”
I’ve had this happen to me a couple times the past ~2 weeks and would have to cross clients to comment on a post. :: posting from Primal now though ::
Phil Zimmermann is the creator of PGP and the man who fought the US government in court to normalize open source cryptography.
Without his courageous actions, Satoshi Nakamoto wouldn't have had access to all the cryptography libraries that he used (such as ECDSA) and couldn't have hidden his identity (he used PGP and Tor for his communications).
I had the honor to interview Phil Zimmermann in Prague during the Proof of Work Summit and I'm happy and proud to share the recording with you. I've asked him about Bitcoin, I've asked him about Hal Finney (who was his first employee at PGP), and we've also talked about other cryptography projects that he finds interesting. He's the kind of cypherpunk who cares about privacy much more than creating sound money, and his work definitely reflects this path.
The interview is available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts & Spotify (as well as many other podcast apps). If you want to search for it yourselves, look for Bitcoin Takeover Podcast S14 E15 with Phil Zimmermann.

If MTV pivoted from music videos to random videos and YouTube pivoted from random videos to music videos… then Musical.ly can morph into TikTok and Damus can morph into Musical.ly’s initial plan haha

Some Friday feels for a reminder that we get to share this beautiful home that some call earth
1. #bitcoin is ultra progressive technology that progresses humanity past some hard to conceive barriers
2. The current connotation of “progressive” reminds me when people in the US were trying to come to consensus on what the definition of “defund” meant in 2020. It was confusing to all parties involved. Language is messy (luckily messy rather than dictated) but, over the medium-to-long run, tends to conform to the people’s definition/s

A great interview with nostr:npub18m4nmc2wchzgcmzvnluqjzxyrpshp64mwje2vuz60kulny3v6c0qtgcl2x. Strong leadership and good intentions can allow people to admit mistakes, explain what failed and advocate to people to avoid the headaches of repeating the same mistake. It’s awesome to see the focused mission on fixing the economic injustice.
#bitcoin #nostr and more importantly the internet are lucky to have you on the teams.
