Breaking the Spell: Capitalism’s War on Imagination

Presented by Adam

Time: Sunday Aug 13, 1-230p

Location: DifferentWrld

Description: As human beings, our imaginations are limitless—yet, many people have a difficult time actually imagining what a better world could look like. There are many reasons for this but at the root, it’s about violence (or the threat of it). In this multi-media presentation we’ll look at how the mechanisms of capitalism create imaginary lines and invisible walls that police our thoughts, creating boxes that our imaginations become contained in—and how we can break out of them. To deal with the compounding crises we face in our communities and our world, we’ll need new ways of addressing social problems. To do this we have to imagine new horizons; new possibilities.
