URGENT: PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY COMMUNICATION RIGHT NOW!
on 4th Sept 2024 #ChatControl regulation representatives of EU goverments will resume work based on a secret document according to Patrick #Breyer, former Member of the European Parliament.
Help to mobilize everybody to defend our #privacy of communication and its developers, investors!
If no preventive actions from your side now, this regulation will be endorsed on 12/13 December 2024.
According to the draft regulation dated 28 May (Council document 9093/24), ChatControl deploys to do, for instance:
š» āupload moderationā, users of apps and services with chat functions are to be asked whether they accept the indiscriminate and error-prone scanning and possibly reporting of their privately shared images, photos and videos.
š»Scan by āartificial intelligenceā technology previously unknown images and videos;
š»If a user refuses the scanning, they would be blocked from sending or receiving images, photos, videos and links (Article 10).
š»End-to-end encrypted services such as Whatsapp or Signal would have to implement the automated searches āprior to transmissionā of a message (so-called client-side scanning, Article 10a).
During the last discussion on 24 May, the Council Legal Service made it clear that indiscriminate chat control scanning of non-suspects is still envisioned and remains a violation of fundamental rights.
Nevertheless, most EU governments are determined to go ahead. https://netzpolitik.org/wp-upload/2024/05/2024-05-28_Council_Presidency_LEWP_CSAR_Compromise-texts_9093.pdf
š Tell your goverment and parliamentarians, that the proposal should be rejected altogether!
š“Is your government in favour?
ā Ask for an explanation and for your government to revert its course.
š”Is your government abstaining?
ā Ask why and demand that they take a strong stance against chat control.
š¢Is your government opposing?
ā Great, but take a closer look at the reasoning: Some governments like #Germany e.g. only object to the scanning of encrypted communications, but are fine with the indiscriminate scanning of other private and public communication, with the end of anonymous communication by requiring age verification, or with introducing a minimum age for āriskyā communication apps. Also critical governments need to do more, exert their influence in the Council of the EU and agree on a joint list of necessary fundamental changes to the proposal. Absent such revision they should ask the European Commission to withdraw the chat control proposal as it stands.
š“ In favour of ChatControl: France, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden.
š”Abstained: Estonia, Netherlands, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Austria
š¢ Opposed the proposal: Germany, Poland

I love the block number on the Real Bedford logo.
GA. Yesterday was Fatherās Day in New Zealand and I spent fantastic day being doted on by my loving daughters and my wife.
My daughters eleven and nine years old both wrote me cards.
My oldest daughter Leo had some wonderful sentiment written on her card:
ā1Happy Fatherās Day to the best daddy in the world! You bring me so much joy and love into our lives every day. Selflessness, wisdom and unwavering support make you an amazing father. We are forever grateful for everything you do. Love Leo x x xā
She then cracked me up when she told me she had used Venice.ai to help her improve the sentiment she hard written on the card.
I thought thatās awesome. Sheās 11 years old and sheās already learnt to use AI to improve her communication. Embracing the future.
Sheās already got more Bitcoin than all our friends. Smart girl.

Much respect Peter. Looking forward to the new beginning. š«”
Thatās a great track record for you. Not so good for the majority of them. Well done. Given the poor success so many have orange pilling their friends and family, what do you think the key has been in your success?
Interestingly this has labour law implications, particularly relevant since our Court of Appeal decided to insert their progressive agenda into Uberās relationship with its driversā¦

With our proposed āZaprideā Nostr based model, there is no corporation mistreating their employees or contractors, just a peer to peer exchange of value for value at an agreed price.
GA, Iāll just leave this here. Make of it what you will.
āBinance has seized all funds from all Palestinians as per the request of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). They refuse to return the funds. All appeals denied," reported Ray Youssef, CEO of NoOnes trading platform.

Well said Marty. Many people are thoroughly, and perhaps understandably, demoralised at the state of the world. We all know weād probably be the same without the optimism that comes with the understanding of Bitcoin and Nostr. We need to light the way. Some will bee benefit, some wonāt until theyāre ready or the situation forces them. All in good time.
Not a dev but I had a similar thought last night, imagining streaming sats to a driver while Iām taken to my destination much in the same way as, say, nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5 streams sats to podcasters for content. An idea whose time has come?
Exactly, and the corporate monopolies are excluded from their milking of the labours of others.
How do we know Nostr won't feed us algos? Primal could implement similar right? Same for the relays?
Youāll be able to choose the algorithm thatās right to your preferences.
I am going become a Dad! What an incredible feeling š

We only had one test remaining. She said she was experiencing period pain and that it would likely yield another negative result. So, I already fell asleep when she woke me up to ask if I could help her read the test. I wasn't fully awake yet so my mind wasn't processing much. I got out of bed to look at the test results, seeing two lines with one being very faint. That still counts as positive result. Not wanting to get my hopes too high, we drove to Walgreens at 2am and purchased more tests. Did we take enough tests? š All of them came back positive. Tears of joy. I'm going to become a Dad! What an incredible feeling it is.
I listened to this podcast recently. Fiat foods really are killing us. Woman with irregular periods this is worth a listen.

Congratulations Ivan. Being a dad is awesome.
My wife Karin was complaining to me about how much Airbnb charges guests booking our accommodation. A $75 apartment charge and $50 cleaning fee becomes a $200 total charge once Airbnb adds their frankly extortionate $75 booking fee.
I told her Uber takes over 80% from each fare booked via the Uber app, leaving the poor Uber drivers with less than 20% of which they need to pay for fuel and associated vehicle costs, leaving them with fuck all.
Then I started thinking about Amazon which has been described as a private fiefdom, levying large fees upon their merchants and cancelling any items and or merchants they do not approve of.
I started wondering if apps similar to Airbnb, Uber or Amazon could be built on Nostr? I donāt know if itās possible to build an app similar to Airbnb or Uber, but if any developers could do it, Iām sure the mighty and enlightened Nostr could. An Amazon equivalent marketplace canāt be too hard. Weāve already got the payments platform sorted. It would be appropriate devs should apply a fair V4V royalty for their efforts, but nothing like the rapacious fees charged by these obscene corporations.
Few things would give me greater satisfaction than seeing these parasitic rent-seeking corporations market share ebb away to nothing. Iām sure Iām not alone in this sentiment.
Any takers, devs?
