Has anybody discussed the idea of zaps going through Apple's LN node and them taking their 30% cut? I mean, if that is the price you have to pay to be on Apple, then the devil could be paid his due. Would Apple bother to set that up? They might end up skimming quite a lot to make it worthwile for them. They would gag Will about the deal, but all of us could keep talking about it to warn people. And Apple would be a lot less hesitant to ban Damus after that because they would be cutting off a good revenue stream if they did.
Maybe some of us can help them setup an LN node?
Maybe I'm talking crazy.

Nostr lives! Just like this woman: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-65886245.amp
I think a well written and motivating set of instructions on how to sideload could do a lot: "If you want to find the real Internet where all the smart hackers are, without Google getting in your face, you'll need to do a tiny bit of hacking yourself. Actually not even hacking, just a few settings tweaks really. Don't worry, we will guide you through, and this doesn't void any of your warrantees. First you need to enable developer options..."
If you accept "If you want reach, you have to somehow play ball with Google" and Google bans your app, then you lose outright. The only possible winning strategies is to figure out how that statement is wrong. I'm not saying I have the answer. But I'm not willing to concede defeat.
Android is open source (AOSP). You can run it without google (I recommend GrapheneOS). And there are multiple app providers like Play Store, Aurora, and F-Droid. Plus users can side-load.
The Google Play Store could potentially ban nostr apps, but Android couldn't, and we could always give instructions on how to load them.
I think it's high time for an open Apple clone that runs iOS but hooked up to your own backend services including app store. Break people out of this prison. People should be able to run anything they want on their purchased phones. It should be developed in a country Apple doesn't have legal capabilities in... like maybe Iran.

I love it!
I already preferred him to the other candidates, but this just wraps it up and puts a neat bow on it.
I love how refreshingly honest and open he is, and I can see how that attitude and his wisdom has lead him towards so many clear understandings. Even the things I disagree with him on, I feel like he could change my mind with more discussion, or maybe I misunderstand him and we don't really disagree on those things. Best Democrat to come along since his uncle.
My ISP spark.co.nz tried extortion on me today. I complained about 4G wireless broadband speeds having degraded over the past few days to down to 22.0 KiB/s (where just about everything I try to do times out). They said it was because I was on the Unleashed plan and they don't offer that plan anymore, and if I upgrade to their new Everyday Wireless plan I would get better speeds. I used the F word (they chastized me) and cancelled the account.
Is StarLink any good?
hey all, I would like to crowdsource this client comparison list. If you have 10 mins this week - could you help fill based on the clients you use. Anyone can contribute, the more, the better it gets.
Just be wary, as it’s real time editing - if you delete anything, it’s gone forever.
You are welcome to add more sheets to track edits, add reliability comparison or anything else you want to compare between clients. If you want to host this initiative, that would be even better.
This information is for all. I am only doing this out of curiosity. If you are a client dev, you can use this as a marketing avenue as well as some input for your next development. For everyone else, go wild with it. Many thanks in advance

What does "relay read" "relay write" mean?
Yeah I know. I'm soliciting people who post during this time slot, because it's usually a pretty dead time slot among the people I already follow.
Nostr is dead. I haven't seen a post in my feed in 18 minutes. If you posted in the last 18 minutes, reply so I can follow you. I need material to fill these dead spots! Don't make me turn to twitter!
Ok, I thought maybe fiatjaf's joke mightn't have been the start, but it suits. I guess we need to call in the necromancers.
What is all this I hear about nostr being dead (sarcastic or not)? Is it in reference to something I missed?
It is the preview of the message because you’re constructing it in a way this world be incredibly difficult for a client to parse all this ambiguous text into something sensible
Check out nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn ‘s coracle or nostr:npub1acg6thl5psv62405rljzkj8spesceyfz2c32udakc2ak0dmvfeyse9p35c ‘a gossip to see how they allow you to, natively, add/remove p tags
Gossip used to do this, but somehow it got lost in the UI shuffle. I would like to see it come back one day, the ability to at least untag those people you mention in the note, so they aren't alerted that you are talking about them.
As I get older and my eyesight gets worse, I'm seeing stranger and stranger things when I don't have my glasses on. If I extrapolate forward, I'll be seeing UFOs pretty soon.
