Unit bias is an issue with Bitcoin. Newcomers often buy Dogecoin or other altcoins simply because they can own "a lot" of them, while the idea of ever owning a whole Bitcoin feels impossible. One proposed solution by nostr:nprofile1qqsgeksa4tajm7x673gq2v7t56dkgkh6pjhhzdhrgxlpke4za8jmmkqpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqgjwaehxw309ac82unsd3jhqct89ejhxqgkwaehxw309aex2mrp0yhxummnw3ezucnpdejqetk0p4 is to shift the language from 21 million bitcoins to 2.1 quadrillion bitcoins. Bitcoin is a great brand name and using satoshis or sats can be confusing. This would fix that too.
However, I feel this proposal would create confusion too, especially for those new to Bitcoin and for the mediaâbecause for 16 years, people have heard there are only 21 million bitcoins. Explaining that the total supply hasnât changed, only the denomination, would be exhausting. Personally, I think calling them âsatsâ isnât very intuitive, they shouldâve been called âbitsâ, but at this point, I donât really care.

I think you bring up a good point. Please allow me to offer perspective:
I agree with you - many aspects of design arenât ideal (a wallet is really a keychain, sats are bits, etc.). I believe that overtime people will continue using a multitude of words to refer to the same thing.
Similarly today in USA people refer to cents as pennies, nickels, dimes, and some even say Benjamins for $100 bills⌠and I personally only use dollars and cents (sometimes I use bucks to sound cool)âŚ
In my home country, the younger generation uses the actual currency as jargon (dirhams and centimes).
Older folks almost never use dirhams in their jargon, but rather Rials.
50 Dirhams is about $5. Or like my mom would say 1000 rials. đ
Everybody still communicates just fine!
Nothing opens your eyes to the current decaying of society like a trip to the mall.
A bunch of sun-deprived unfit zombies spending not-yet-earned money buy useless overpriced items they donât need while overindulging in some type of industrial sludge under the false pretext of âtreating yourself is loving yourselfâ.
If coinbase was a produce stand at the farmers market, I wouldnt trust them to hold a bag of potatoes while I run to the bathroom.
Whatâs the in house rug pull specifically?
Love reading this after struggling to understand why certain podcasts wonât play on Spotify with my VPN onâŚ
We took a borderless open protocol to communicate information freely and turned it into a permission based corporately controlled platformâŚ
Chapeau!

Explain this to me in plain english please
Bitcoin changes your life for the better.
No matter where you are in life, your level of accomplishments, your expertise⌠Life is inherently better with bitcoin.
Once we all realize it, we all benefit from it.
Bitcoin tanks first in times of crises because its liquid, global, and traded 24/7. Other markets follow. In times of crises, fear and doubt, traders and speculators sell what they can, not what they want.
Market just opened this morning. Take a look:
NVDA -7%
META -5%
AMZN -4%
S&P500 -6%
Dow Jones -5.5%
MSFT -3.5%
US Oil -2.3%
JP Morgan -7.5%
Bank of America -7.8%
Nothing changed in bitcoin fundamentals, itâs just moving from soft hands to stronger hands, from short term holders to long term holders, from bears to bulls.
Bulls arenât willing to sell at cheap prices because they studied and understand the value of what they hold. If you want to buy from a bull, you need to bid up the price. Thatâs what drives market price up high. When the price is dropping, it just means bears are getting scared out and worn out.
Bitcoin is a living being, it wants to be held by the strongest hands so that it can grow in value. To do so, it will shake up all of the soft hands before going up to the next level.
CCTV cameras every corner.
24/7 speed checks every few miles.
Vehicles can be searched basically at any given time.
In some places, youâre subject to fines when your household trash exceeds the weight quotaâŚ
Freedom in America is engraved in its DNA. Americans must fight to keep it that way.
Spending a few days in europe will make you realize how underrated freedom in america is.
Yes things are messy, but the constitutional rights are much more powerful than people think. Some of the constitutional rights go deeper than just laws on paper. You canât just explain it to people who live outside the US. They have to experience it.
First time in #Amsterdam. Any cool shops/cafĂŠs for bitcoiners? #bitcoin
Bitcoin adoption is cool and all but letâs not forget:
Governments are not supposed to have âreservesâ. Their income source is taxpayers which funds government spending.
Whatever is left should be given back to taxpayers - in tax returns or decreased tax rate in following years.
There us 2 types of people in this world: those willingly choosing bitcoin and those who will be forced to choose #bitcoin.
Inefficient boarding groups is also going to be laughed at.
We know the optimal way to board planes. Airlines choose not to adopt it because itâs another excuse to squeeze more money out of passengers.
Backwards.
Next generation will laugh at how backwards most of our systems are.
Stripping off before going through an xray machine at the airport will be at the top of the list.
Can you please explain this to someone with basic experience in programming but not nearly as advanced? Asking for a friend đĽš
Can we all agree on how to drive on the highway?
Right lane: heavy vehicles, driving 5-10mph below speed limit.
Middle lane: cruising at constant speed (at around the speed limit)
Left lane: passing lane only. Can only be there temporarily. Not for cruising. Accelerate, pass, and collapse back to middle lane.
On ramp: increase speed then merge to right lane.
Off ramp: decrease speed then merge from right lane.
None of this should involve any braking. Braking is for coming to halts, not to decelerate on the highway.
Predictability in driving behaviors leads to no unnecessary braking, which leads to no unnecessary traffic jams.
