The one and only. BTC. XMR. Freedom maxi. Say no to CBDCs and digital ID. #FreeRoss #McAfeeDidntKillHimself

Been streaming through my VPS for an hour, seems to be working smooth! Turned on video passthrough since OBS is already doing hardware accelerated encoding.

Fixed the zap bug too thanks to nostr:npub107jk7htfv243u0x5ynn43scq9wrxtaasmrwwa8lfu2ydwag6cx2quqncxg but plz do not zap it, I wanna keep it at 6.9k ๐Ÿ˜‚

This is just an RMTP server to stream live video through Zap.stream and Amethyst without paying 10 sats per minute haha.

Relay is extremely easy to run from a VPS!

Full node is a bit more difficult, it'll eat a lot of bandwidth and if you wanna use it as a backend for say Mempool you can't prune it either so you'd need at least 1TB storage.

Then you have the security aspects to consider when you run a full node on a VPS. I'm fairly good at locking Linux servers down but I'm not sure I'd trust a full node I set up running off a VPS.

TL;DR: Relays are very easy to setup on $5 VPS's but full nodes are both more resource intensive and more sensitive security wise. I'd wait until you're able to run your node from your own hardware personally.

Finally I got it running smoothly even from my cheap VPS!

Ah yes just as Satoshi intended...

#FuckKYC #ZBD

Cool concept but like 99% of alts no one is actually gonna use the tech. Some may trade it for a quick flip then that's it. Better off stacking sats.

P.S. ZBD is a KYC'd custodian. I wouldn't go anywhere near it. Literally the same thing as keeping Bitcoin on Coinbase.

You can use Nostr on a number of open source clients. Best for iPhone is Damus, best for Android is Amethyst.

On the lightning side, check out Start9 and Umbrel and look into running a node.

If you don't have a spare computer or it seems like too much effort, at least use a non-custodial lightning wallet on your phone e.g. Phoenix (limited but good easy UX), Blixt (loads of features but requires understanding of LN, channel management), and my personal favourite Zeus Olympus but that's not released to the public yet. It will be soon though. Worth keeping an eye on.

> I find talking about the madness of fiat to be a far stronger orangepill than talking about Bitcoin. When people join the fiat dots, they want out.

Have absolutely noticed the same.

Instead of tryna overtly orange pill I just drop facts here and there on fiat like "did you know 97% of all the money is created by commercial banks as debt?" and "if we all decided to stop borrowing money, liquidity would dry up fast, the Fed relies on private bankers creating as much debt as possible to inflate the supply of money backed by nothing."

My current favourite is just linking to https://wtfhappenedin1971.com and explaining that the growing divide between rich and poor is engineered by banks and they only have that power because they control where the new money they create goes.

Finally I empthasise that for most of human history, humans either traded directly or used a medium of exchange with intrinsic value. The advent of inflationary money backed by nothing and reliant on debt creation is a very recent invention, historically speaking, by Richard Nixon.

Yep their moderation algo eats comments too.

No joke on this: whenever I post a comment with "Davos" in it, it gets shadowbanned. It shows for my account, but not if I open the thread in a private browsing session.

Fr. I use it all the time. Only failed to work on two websites. It works on everything else I've thrown at it.

For most people (anyone except super big "YouTubers") ad revenue on YouTube is pretty much nothing anyway.

If you've produced something for the Nostr audience you'll probably make more in sats from zaps.

I never share direct YouTube links for this reason (unless giving a source).

I yt-dlp the video and stick it in a bucket then share that link.

Ofc that's not super decentralised either. But I could put it on Arweave, IPFS, etc for decentralised storage.

And all 100% non-custodial!

Olympus is imo the best non-custodial lightning wallet on mobile right now and it's still in alpha.

Don't care, still best.
