Fixed it by installing armv7 instead of v8. It now runs with a proper Android TV focused UX and everything!

It wasn't until Nostr I realised how much self-censorship is subtly enforced on Twitter, Instagram, etc.

Twitter is at least somewhat upfront about it with those annoying "other people won't like this" messages if you dare to type "fuck" in a tweet.

But in a sense that kinda makes it worse. Even here on Nostr I still find myself thinking "if I say that it'll get hidden by the algo" then I remember "oh wait fuck I'm on Nostr I can say whatever the fuck I want and use as many cunting swearwords as I pissing well like, shit!"

For real though I'm still having to "deprogram" this behaviour out of myself after deleting Twitter months ago and not even using it at all months before that. It's almost muscle memory.

I feel bad for people still trapped in these centralised prisons.

What third party (preferably FOSS) YouTube client runs properly on Android TV?

NewPipe teeeechnically runs but the UX is unusable on Android TV.

SkyTube simply doesn't launch.

LibreTube launches but doesn't let me select an instance.

Do any others have even basic Android TV optimisation? So it's usable and I can watch YouTube without two unskippable ads every five minutes and without paying Google money to give them my data. Plz.

I assumed everyone on this platform would basically be hard-core anti-mandated medicine, but I was mistaken. If there’s one mission I have after the last three years it’s not to orange pill people or purple pill them, but to persuade people that the knowledge required to mandate medical treatment on your fellow citizen is (a) not something we possess; and (b) not something we can ever possess because you’d need to know the medium and long-term, second and third and nth-order results of a complex system are simply impossible to game out.

Morever, the idea that you can violate someone’s rights “for the greater good” is the justification of every tyrant in history. The reason we have inalienable rights is ultitarian do-gooders will supply all manner of reasons why you need to do x, y and z.

Life is complex, and you cannot know the mind of God (or the Tao) or whatever you like to call it.

The only ethical road is humility and restraint.

Killing your military targets with a drone is very different from killing protesters in the streets with snipers. Also, the killing of citizens of other countries is sad, but when a government kills its own protesting citizens, that government is the most brutal government.

Nostr cannot compete against the big platforms on the same field. If you try to make Nostr apps exactly like Twitter they will just be an inferior copycat. Nostr's competitive advantage is the fact that it is an open protocol, trying to hide that from users is the asking for defeat.
