We've visited a couple of sales this spring to sell plants for our #nursery and I wanted to share some of the mechanics that go in to that.

We have a landscape trailer, 10.5' long by 5' wide. I can fit about 180 to 200 plants in trade 1 gallon pots onto that trailer.

After we load, and this is KEY, I cover the plants up with a shade cloth tarp to prevent the wind from ripping all the leaves off while we are driving.

At the event, we've either set up the plants on low tables or on the ground. I have information sheets with me (DM me and I'll send you the PDFs!) as well as setting up a sign with our offerings.

My goal the more I do this is to create a more exciting and inviting booth. As I look at the pictures of our set up booth, I can see we need more color (as in flowering plants) as well as more abundance and variety of leaf shapes, plants, etc. So we are going to branch out a bit into things like lilacs, daylillies, hydrangea, etc.

Hanging waterer is working a treat. No poops in there. The chicky looking at the camera from behind the waterer is one of our two Manchurian hens. Such a lovely lady. V precious. You can see the sexual dimophism in color and pattern with the chap at the front demonstrating the male variety.

I started to take a watercolor figure painting class in 2018. I had no prior experience in figure drawing. I felt totally defeated every week in the class.

At our house in town, I built a bunch of nice raised garden beds along the sidewalk, where we grow vegetables and flowers. The whole front yard is pretty much flowers and gardens, very little grass. It's a busy street, and we get lots of complementary comments from people in the neighborhood. One year we had a huge trombocino squash hanging on the trellis and people were stopping to photograph their babies next to it...

A while back we started finding little gifts left in the raised beds with no explanation. A ceramic bird hung up on the trellis, a Christmas ornament in December, etc.

The most curious thing so far has been these little rattles/chimes/whatever they are. We have no idea what they're for, or who left them. They have something inside that makes a soft little ringing sound when you shake them.

Does anyone know what these are, or what the characters on them represent?
