It’s now very important to use a nym if you’re a dev for privacy tech.

According to the Tornado Cash verdict we’re all required to be AML compliance spooks.

We may see the capability gap between closed and open models expand for a while, but I think the investment in the closed models will actually drag the open model capability up as well, even if it lags. Engineers quit and start their own companies, advance open source models in their free time, etc.

She’s running for president in Suriname, and I have a good feeling she’s going to be the next #Bitcoin President ⚡️

Here’s a spicy one. If she becomes president would she consider abandoning Suriname’s extradition treaty with the US to protect privacy software devs?

The precedent is being set that a tool must KYC its users to be considered legitimate, else the devs go to prison. If you’re a dev who doesn’t have a nym yet, make one.

I have a feeling that at some point there will be another war between Bitcoiners on the scale of the block size war. These will be the two sides:

1. Add the bips to improve Bitcoin’s privacy. Institutional investors and some centralized exchanges will nope out and send the Bitcoin price spiraling in the near term but it’s worth it to fix the one glaring issue that prevents Bitcoin from being used as private investment and cash.

2. Bitcoin doesn’t need that level of privacy on the base layer. If you want privacy go to layer 2 ecash mints or swap for Monero or Zcash on Bisq and do your dark web stuff there. We can’t lose the suits or risk the inevitable bans by govt.

Yeah. The US is too powerful to escape while it’s unified. The modern “Berlin Wall” is made out of federal agents and extradition treaties in almost every country that isn’t a tyranny itself like China, Russia, Iran, etc. The answer lies in significant scale secession within the US. Doesn’t have to be formal. It really just needs to be the refusal to enforce federal laws and taxes and stick to it when the violence arrives from the feds.

Looks like one could land without a parachute in one of these wing suits. Pull up and stall at exactly the height of a landing platform and step on to it. I wouldn’t try it but I’m sure someone will!

Yeah. You basically have Africa and the familiar anti-American tyrannies like China, Russia, Iran, etc.

As I understand it even the Liquid functionaries can’t see amounts and asset types in confidential transactions. If forced to KYC they could probably follow transaction graphs in ways that make CT not too useful though. They should work to have 50%+ of their functionaries in jurisdictions that don’t have extradition treaties with the US at this point if they’re serious about avoiding the KYC future.

At least confidential transactions mitigates the effectiveness of KYC in Liquid somewhat. For custodial LN, perhaps chaumian ecash is some kind of answer.

Also heard that the materials and gamma ray conditions for life arose relatively recently in the timeline of the universe. Seemingly provides the answer as to why we haven’t heard from aliens yet - we’re early.
