I’m about to fire up Space Engineers to check out the new update later tonight.

Tech minimalist Bitcoiners are funny. Here are some hard pills for them to swallow:

- Internet-connected cameras at home are superior home security. You can monitor your house and operate home automation systems from anywhere.

- Modern EVs are superior. You can get electricity from pretty much anywhere. The grid, solar, diesel generator, even a homemade steam engine - chop trees and throw fuckin logs in there!

- Your AR-15 won’t help much against Neuralink’ed invaders who have 360 degree vision and telepathically control drone swarms. (Still wouldn’t have a Neuralink that could do that installed but would an open source equivalent)

“Protect cryptocurrency investments” likely means crack down on/ban coinjoins and encourage storing your coins with 3rd parties.

I guess 30 years is some breathing room, but 10 years, being just 2.5 halving cycles away, would be close enough I’d say it’s time to test candidate algorithms. Especially if there’s a significant chance 10 years is pessimistic.

Is there any serious testing being done on post-quantum algorithms for Bitcoin yet? If not, why?

Yup. Only in the last few years has modern military tech been achievable again by citizens. It’s why the US is desperately trying to reign in microchips.

Commercial drones with homemade shaped charges can work better than Javelins.

Before communists took over it was symbols of communism that made them insecure. The party in power is always trying to squash symbols of dissent.

Semi-related: I used to get personal training and attend CrossFit classes, but now I use phone apps for workout programming at my home gym. I do miss the motivation and form correction that trainers and coaches provided, but I figure they too will have AI equivalents that don’t cost $200+ a month for eventually.

Plus, the US gov tries to keep a veneer of non-tyrannical appearance by not explicitly banning things. Instead they impose onerous regulations to the point of a practical ban but where they can say “not banned, just have to follow the common sense regs!”

It still surprises me to see anyone surprised when the State tries cracking down on Bitcoin being used privately. It’s slightly surprising that Bitcoin isn’t banned yet.

Don’t forget, tech like the Meta Smart glasses can be turned on the State for inverse surveillance. Dox the FBI goons they send to your door to harass you about your social media posts.

The human body is still not completely understood, however what IS known about the body is open information that can be accessed by anyone. Imagine if there was a part of your body that only a company and governments get to have the knowledge of. That’s what you have with closed, proprietary augmentations like Neuralink and this.

For real, don’t put tech augmentations that aren’t open source in your body. I’d rather tough out my ailment until an open source version of the “fix” arrives. https://futurism.com/neoscope/paralyzed-man-exoskeleton-too-old
