Reminds me of Totoro. (Actual art, not AI.) #ghibli

I spent the late '90s using Slackware on a Gateway 2000 laptop. I regularly recompiled the kernel to strip out anything vaguely unnecessary, mostly by trial and error, just so AbiWord or whatever would be 4% faster.

I spent many sleepless nights booting and rebooting and praying I'd see it come back to life. I learned that to love Linux is to love sovereignty more than productivity.

I'm still on Linux. I still love it. And I get into rebuilding servers now just for relaxation and flow-state.

I don't regard that time as a complete waste. I learned a lot, mostly about persistence.

Love this podcast. Congrats to the Savory team for launching such an important effort to champion complexity. Great job Bobby! #v4v #regenerativeagriculture #farming #holisticmanagement #protocols #decentralization

Congratulations. That's an outstanding season!

We moved our lambing season to May and June, partly to decrease the risk of hypothermia. Also so that the grass-fed flock had grass to eat during their time of highest nutritional need. And it means we get to lamb in the sunshine.

I hope you post more pics. Are they Katahdins?

GM nostr. Stay weird. Stay free.

I've wrestled with this myself. Best I can figure is that the sub wallet needs its own Alby account as well and then the two can be connected. But, when setting up the sub wallet you might need to designate it as isolated from the main account.

Then there's a tricky moment when the NWC info is only available one time, and you've got to use that moment to connect the wallet to everything you might want to use it for (Nostr, Alby Go, Alby account, Blue Wallet, etc.)

Also, I could be wrong. But that's as far as I've gotten.

He said "I didn't know my effort was worth so much!"

My boy (11) just finished creating this collection of "Anthropomorphic Blobs" (as he calls them) using #ink and #watercolor. I told him I'd post it and show him the power of #v4v. Any zaps on this will go into his "low time preference" wallet. If you can show some support, thank you!

Chapter 13 of Broken Money is called "Heavy is the Head that Wears the Crown".

It focuses on the US trade deficit and why it arises structurally. In short, since the USD is the global reserve currency (for reserve assets, international contracts, FX trading pairs, and cross-border funding), there is tremendous automatic demand for USD in the world compared to other fiat currencies.

To supply the world with that ever-growing need for USD to service all sorts of needs, the United States runs structural trade deficits with the rest of the world. That's how the USD spills out to the rest of the world for them to use. And the mechanism for that is that the overvalued USD boosts Americans' import power, reduces Americans' low-margin export competiveness, and basically forces open that trade deficit.

That trade deficit is the cost of maintaining the benefits USD system as currently structured. The fatal flaw is that those who bear the cost (e.g. industrialists in the Rust Belt) are not the same as those to gain the benefits (e.g. Wall Street and Washington DC folks). And those costs and benefits accumulate over decades, resulting in rising populism and pushback, which is now front and center.

The challenge that the administration faces is that they have identified a real problem, but are tackling the surface issues rather than the underlying structural issues.

Anyway, I uploaded that chapter 13 on my website for free reading:
