Build your own airgapped, stateless bitcoin signing device for less than most hardware wallets. 🀘 Not set up for zaps, if you'd like to donate to our contributors please go to https://donate.seedsigner.com

Watched the movie "The Notebook" with my wife and daughter tonight. Nearly everyone yearns to be a part of something bigger than themselves, and to do something meaningful with their lives. What a blessed opportunity each of us has to be and do both of these with bitcoin.

So excited about initiatives like this, a big thank you to nostr:npub1zkr064avsxmxzaasppamps86ge0npwvft9yu3ymgxmk9umx3xyeq9sk6ec for organizing this workshop. πŸ™

What is the camera used for with a Ledger -- a selfie for ID verification?

Not finalized but if I had to guess, $60-80, with a choice of several different enclosures, and with shipping within the US included. You'll always be able to build this stuff more cheaply on your own. But if you appreciate the convenience of having it all there and want to support the builders, the kits and assembled devices will be a great option.

We'll have a release candidate dropping in the coming days, and I wanted to spend a few minutes going over our newest features. Our volunteer contributors continue to do wonderful work to keep moving our project forward -- all FOSS, all free, so amazing.

If there's a bitcoin podcast or show you'd like to see our project featured on, please tag them in the comments.

(Apologies for the HVAC in the background, hottest day of the year so far where I am!)

That one is not working for me…

The plan is to offer just the enclosures, all of the components as a kit, or an assembled device with pre-loaded software. Over time we would like to add more configurable options, over-the-air updates, the ability to inexpensively purchase additional display modes via LN payment, many more enclosure options and themes, and other features. These things take time, but the plan for this concept is ambitous. πŸ™‚

For the other Macbook users out there, especially those who appreciate keyboard shortcuts, TIL about CTL+CMD+Space to bring up an emoji menu. πŸš€

Spent the whole day playing around with a nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl device. Tomorrow it's nostr:npub10vudmjqhr8kn2kv2pxhezt2h5t5c9zauwq8qr56nhdn64yacsqyqf08djm and the rest of the team's turn. We cannot be encouraging people to save in #Bitcoin if we're not also doing everything we can to ensure that seed phrases and back ups stay safe.

Don’t hesitate to reach out directly if you have any questions about operating the signer, or about the storage model more generally.

Walt Disney initially thought he had missed the market opportunity with animation by a few years.

If you’re passionate about something, just get after it. Even if you think you're too late, or even if you think someone else has already solved the problem.

I guess I never did an #introduction here on #Nostr so here goes. Please boost so I can find some more birds of a feather.

Quit a job running a software security firm to develop open source software (yes, as a volunteer).

Want to decentralize all the things! I give people an alternative to big tech's products and their spying on their customers. I personally build and maintain hardware and software that makes this a reality.

I fight for the user. That means open source, privacy-first software & hardware must be user friendly.

I'm honestly pretty terrible at social media and self promotion, but I'm told I'm a damned fine engineer.

At the same time, I also:

- help run the local #Makerspace

- work in our wood shop

- grow, process and preserve herbs and vegetables

- use Tor, Matrix, Briar, and Signal

- build custom solar panels

- have commercial made solar on our roof

- have a geothermal HVAC system

- have developed cryptographic protocols

- have done security audits on the same

I believe in the value for value model, but honestly I'm really angling for post-capitalism.

In the end, it's pretty hard to pigeonhole me into a single stereotype. I think you'd need at least a half dozen of them to start to get close. And even then it confuses people about how I can support the right to bear arms, environmentalism, fiscal responsibility, and the rights of gay and trans people to exist and just be themselves.

So if you're looking for a reason to dislike me, there's probably something in that list that'll let you do it. If you're intregued about how I can have all of these seemingly conflicting views, follow me and find out.

Liked your intro, followed. πŸ‘
