Nostr is a small frontier town.

There are always the kinds of folks who want to live in a small frontier town.  They come because they are tired of being controlled and want freedom; because they get ostracized from mainstream society; because they want to be part of building and founding something; because they are small or medium fish and a smaller pond is better than a bigger one for them; because they prefer knowing their neighbors and relaxed, small town vibes; because they know that frontiers tend to attract their kind of people; or because they see some potential in that town and know that if they stick with it, they and the town will prosper together.

There are always the kinds of folks who don’t want to live in a small frontier town. When they visit, they dislike that there’s nothing exciting to do, the pace of life is too slow with too little action, few people live here, few who live here share their background or interests, wild or offensive people live here, there’s not enough regulation, the infrastructure isn’t well developed, they don’t know how to (or don’t want to) make their own fun.

Some small frontier towns become ghost towns, but others, which are situated strategically, get the chance to grow.  Towns on river mouths grow; towns on crossroads and train tracks grow; towns with thriving industries grow.  More and different people live there now.  There’s more to do, more being said.  The town gets a glow-up and the finer things of life flow in.  And then, sometimes, some of the city folk are a little more happy to stay.

I believe Nostr is “situated strategically” because of its unique properties, like a frontier town on a river mouth.  There’s no need to fret about whether Nostr will grow or become what you hope it will be; just give it time and do your best to leave your mark.  There’s no need to dis the “city folk” who don’t want to stay; many of their complaints are perfectly valid; just give it time, and as long as what they’re looking for is possible within Nostr’s basic structure and values, they might just take up residence when things get a little more developed.  It doesn’t actually make you any better than them that you stay and they go, though it does show that you are more rugged, or at least better adapted to our particular frontier conditions.

Il limite di un progetto come ProxyRaye è quello di essere ancorato ad una concezione superata di come viene fruito il porno. La pornografia in questi ultimi anni è passata da uno stadio in cui pochissimi creavano e moltissimi fruivano passivamente, ad uno in cui il confine tra chi crea e chi fruisce è sempre più sfumato. Se un_ il porno lo vuole fare e vuole che il suo porno venga visto da un pubblico, non c'è modo di aggirare le grandi piattaforme: bisogna iscriversi e caricare i contenuti lì perché il pubblico è lì.

Il Fediverso nsfw è sostanzialmente un buco nell'acqua perché non c'è abbastanza gente, perché è pieno di disadattati senza abilità relazionali, perché i creator che vengono qua sopra non fanno altro che spammare pubblicità e tentare di promuovere invano i loro OnlyFans (contraddicendo il senso stesso del progetto federato). Ma quale fanatico della privacy metterebbe mai la carta di credito su un sito come quello?

L'esibizionismo richiede un pubblico che sia il più vasto possibile, altrimenti l'atto in sé perde di senso. In questo senso Reddit funziona mille volte meglio rispetto a Lemmy, come snapchat funziona per il sexting mille volte meglio rispetto a Matrix (che tra l'altro è pieno di pedofili).

Let’s stop dancing around it: Billionaires shouldn’t exist.

No one “earns” a billion dollars.

You extract a billion.

From underpaid workers.

From deregulated industries.

From tax havens.

From stolen land, stolen labor, and generational exploitation.

Meanwhile, nearly 700 million people live in extreme poverty on less than $2 a day (source: World Bank). And we’re out here defending the people who could end global hunger with a fraction of their net worth but choose not to?

Let’s be clear:

You don’t get to be a billionaire without creating suffering.

You underpay. You outsource. You lay off. You lobby to kill regulations.

You exploit a system built to protect wealth—not people.

Why do we tolerate it?

Because we’ve been sold a lie: that “someday,” we might be rich too.

But statistically, you’re more likely to be struck by lightning than become a billionaire.

This fantasy isn’t harmless—it’s a weapon used to keep you compliant.

There is no moral justification for hoarding more wealth than entire nations while children die from preventable diseases.

Billionaires aren’t a sign of a healthy economy.

They’re a symptom of a broken one.

A society that lets a few live like gods while millions suffer is not free—it’s feudal.

Amazingly, over the last five decades, 79 Trillion dollars has been redistributed to the 1% from the lower 90%.

In the documentary Where To Invade Next, Michael Moore interviews the owners of a textiles plant in Italy and informs them that if they used American business practices, they could drastically increase their profits and asks them why wouldn’t they do that?

Their reply was, they don’t need to become “more rich”. They are already wealthy enough and bring enough in to enjoy their lives. The woman says clearly, “I’d rather see that go to the employees. To have real relationships with them, to see them happy. It’s amazing to hear people ask how your mother is doing, from a coworker.”

The power vacuum is full throttle, and the powers that be have become a snowball rolling down a hill, and we have reached critical mass.

I’m not left, I’m not right.

I’m a person. I think for myself.

It’s obvious that we are heading in a bad direction, and I hope leaders rise and the people stand up for themselves. Speak up, say something, anything is better than complacency and silence.
