Decentralization is the key to everything.

I took a break from nostr over a year ago to focus on health issues. When I returned, I was pleasantly surprised to find my profile and notes still online. I figured relay operators would purge old, dormant accounts to reduce their hosting fees. I guess this proves #nostr is more robust that I thought.

Also, because my follow list was preserved, I instantly saw posts from familiar faces like nostr:nprofile1qqsr7acdvhf6we9fch94qwhpy0nza36e3tgrtkpku25ppuu80f69kfqpramhxue69uhkummnw3ez6un9d3shjtnyv4ex26mjdaehxtndv5hsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ehx7um5wghxyctwvshszxthwden5te0wfjkccte9ekk7mt0wd68ytnsd9hxktc79dllq, still working hard to build the community. Love to see it!

They don't appear in my app list so it's not intuitive how to disable permissions at the OS level like other apps. I've read about people using networking apps to block connection requests, but this seems like a high bar for the average user. It's so much easier to just install a keyboard that doesn't require sketchy permissions.

No one thinks about their phone's keyboard, but it seems silly to use a private messenger app in combination with the default keyboard from Google or Samsung. Switching to a private keyboard is pretty easy.

Lol, some things are better left unsaid.

Thanks, it looks like Librewolf is a solid replacement. Finding and turning off all the telemetry in Firefox is a pain, so I'm glad there's a better option. I was aware of Brave but it always seemed a little sketchy to me.

Thanks for providing this context. I assumed Musk bought out the previous owner of the handle with a generous offer, but it sounds like he used the "dormant account" loophole in X's policy instead.

Would it not be trivial to write a program that loops over a list of (hacked) keys to post notes at scale? Getting the list of keys is harder, but once obtained, is equivalent to owning multiple X/Twitter handles.

It's the same family but a different cultivar, bred specifically to reduce the toxicity. Regardless, they're both horrible. Sorry for saying "relative"; cultivar is the more accurate term.
