Last few days with the Aeropress and then I will switch to the Final Press for a couple weeks (maybe less).

Aeropress has outperformed my wildest expectations for it. I haven't even started messing with inverted brewing with it.

I have just been using it as instructed, and tweaking grind size, temp, and seep time to optimize to my tastes. I have been taking some notes along the way.

Next I will do the same with the Final Press.

I have used a French Press almost exclusively for years, along with a pour over now and then in there.

It was time to test out some new stuff and I am enjoying the results so far.

Proper coffee in the morning is such a nice way to start the day. I am finding that adding 5ml of olive oil to the double espresso really enhances the flavour!

I have wondered if the COVID panic and subsequent awareness of BTC actually drove the BTC higher than it would have gone otherwise. Perhaps people had more time to look into Bitcoin. Perhaps realizing that we have been gas-lit for decades. Just wondering, that's all.

I usually feel awful after flying long distances. Some people travel well, and that’s not really me.

I usually can’t sleep much on a plane, even in business class, so I forcibly skip a whole night of sleep basically, and end up with a headache and full body aches.

Over the years I’ve picked up some techniques to minimize it, but clearly not enough (travel for me used to be “hellish” and now it’s much improved to just “awful”).

What do ya’ll do to minimize the negative impact when traveling?

This is the way

It would be infinitely better than now. If voting got us into the mess we're in now. Imagine if instead of people worrying about the next political pundits attempting to swindle themselves into office for another few years. That time was actually spent doing PRODUCTIVE things. Like inventing new things, creating art, music, podcasts.

Voting is AN EXTRACTIVE process. Its give legitimacy to a system in which wealth (private property) is taken from one group to be given to another whomever which got the most votes this season. If you believe people are dumb and ignorant and need leaders to be lead. How is it that you can choose that leader out of those same dumb and ignorant people and expect them not to be fallible in anyway?

Voting is a farce. Always has been. No amount of voting makes a difference in the end. As whomeever you vote for is functioning from funds that are stolen (taxes) so therefore they face 0 consequences for any choice they make while in office.

Taxes involve coercion. So by proxy any coercive action that forces you to do any act you otherwise would not do is immoral. Taxes are backed by the threat of forcing you in a cage (or worse death) if you do not comply with said tax. You do not get to protest, you don't get to vote on it, you don't even have a say. It's just "the way things have always been" so everyone just goes along with it.

If a thief steals from you, your own money, you'd call it theft every single time. But for someone reason a mythical thing called "government " comes and takes your money under that same threat as the robber/ thief its all of a sudden not robbery?

What makes the 2 different is when the thief gets what he wants he will normally dissappear and never be seen by you again. Government on the other hand takes your money buys things "for you" that you didnt want, tells you it's for your own good, then continues to follow you around to do this act for your entire life ensuring you is in your best interest to allow them to keep doing it.

A couple months ago I had a discussion with the head of digital assets at a multi-trillion AUM financial institution about the topic of whether bitcoin is a risk-on asset or a risk-off asset.

This wasn’t about what it is conceptually (i.e. globally portable finite bearer assets are conceptually good to own in a crisis, neither of us disagreed on this), but rather how its price would *actually* behave in a crisis currently and for the next several years.

Their view was that it could be marketed as a risk-off asset, meaning something that is likely to go up in a crisis, and that if marketed this way it would allow them to put bitcoin ETFs into more portfolios and weight it bigger.

My view was that while of course people should own bitcoin, it’s not yet a risk-off asset in practice in terms of price action, and that marketing it that way is likely to lead to disappointment for those that expect it to perform like that.

We then got into a discussion about how bitcoin went up in the March 2023 banking crisis. They suggested that this is evidence of emerging risk-off behavior, to their point.

I disagreed, and clarified that in my analysis the closest correlation to bitcoin price action is measures of global liquidity. Some types of crises are pro-liquidity and some are anti-liquidity, and will likely affect bitcoin’s price accordingly.

The March 2023 banking crisis was a pro-liquidity event because it was quickly apparent that the Fed/Treasury would bail banks out fast and slow their rate hikes. Therefore, bitcoin went up not because it was a risk-off asset per se, but rather because it behaved as a pro-liquidity asset as it frequently has.

The Iran/Israel event this weekend was an anti-liquidity crisis because it contributed to a flight-to-safety move toward the dollar (i.e. the unit of account for which the most debt is denominated in, and debt represents inflexible demand for that unit). A sharp move up in the dollar is bad for global liquidity because it hardens the debts of various foreign entities (sovereigns and corporations) relative to their cash flows (which are to varying degrees partially or completely denominated in fiat units other than the dollar). And so bitcoin behaved as it normally does: it went down amid falling global liquidity.

At this stage (with its relatively small size, high volatility, and poor understanding of most people for the asset), I continue to view bitcoin price action as likely to be pretty correlated with global liquidity for a while. Understanding that dynamic is helpful when communicating expectations to people and when determining which types of crises are likely to push its price up or down. Yes, bitcoin is a risk-off asset conceptually, but in practice in terms of macro price action it is still a pro-liquidity asset primarily.

When bitcoin price action starts to behave differently from that trend, I’d be happy to report on that observation.
