A few years back I was looking for work and did literally thousands of applications on LinkedIn, got a couple interviews but nothing serious.

A friend who actually hires people told me Indeed was better so I switched to that, had a lot more interviews and found a job within a couple months.

And neither have you

Apparently James Lindsay did a hoax on the "Christian Right" in which he altered Karl Marx to support Christian Right stuff and the Christian Right people published it.

https://americanreformer.org/2024/11/the-liberal-consensus-and-the-new-christian-right/

Lindsay is apparently claiming that this proves the Christian Right are just like the Communists, but reading his hoax piece I don't think you have to be "woke" or communist or anything like that to agree.

The article basically claims: 'the modern dominant mode of social organization is in some way bad and unstable'. This is true of communist thought, but it is also true of basically every political movement that wants to make serious changes.

Treating two different (and opposite) things in a super abstract way so that you can say they're really the same is a Marxist (or perhaps Hegellian to be more precise) trick that Lindsay himself has denounced.

Perhaps Lindsay is attempting to employ this trick himself to win converts to his milquetoast liberalism.

I think regulation is a significant part of why modern cars are so similar and pudgy

Cars are optimized to hit pedestrians and do the least damage (instead of just expecting both parties to avoid that)

If you engage in a lot of long-distance passenger travel I can see the point

If you're a totally voracious reader I can also see the point

But yeah, those are niche applications

I think the emphasis on "microbiome" in humans is a symptom of the psychopathic post-Christian Altruism that typifies modern Western (and especially leftist) thought. Even something as mundane as caring for your own health has to de-emphasize the individual and take the form of caring for a community.
