Bit of progress today.
I spent an embarrassingly long time flattening the various edges so the three pieces would sit flush. After that, some shaping of the capital.
Tomorrow packing up sculptures for Vegas, so this piece gets to rest for a little while. The final design of the base and capital decorations is still coming together so it’ll be good to let those ideas percolate.

Making slow but steady progress…
I’m going to get the form done first and then move on to the more decorative aspects.
I’m still experimenting with ideas for how to combine a Classic aesthetic with Bitcoin / cypherpunk themes. If you have any ideas I’d love to hear em.👇

People ask WHY?
So we tell them:
Hard cap, scarcity, increasing demand for the hardest, soundest money ever…
And they dismiss all that.
It’s a bubble! They say.
And the cycle repeats.
But each cycle there are more and more Bitcoiners.

I’m also considering adding a second layer to the top of the column. a Bitaxe surrounded by smaller pillars of orange calcite.. still playing with ideas
I mean… it has to have at least one Bitcoin logo 😂 maybe a small one. I’m still mulling over the ornamentation though. “Vires in Numeris” in Trajan script would be on point. Maybe some lightning bolts incorporated into the scrollwork somehow
An EPIC beer tower*
Something about this stone combination just really does it for me.
The light behind the orange calcite makes it like a pillar of harnessed energy. It’s screaming “Bitcoin” and I haven’t even worked Bitcoin into the design yet. It’s like Bitcoin and neoclassicism had a baby.
As an artist I’ve been trying to land on an aesthetic that works for me, experimenting and experimenting and I think maybe I’m on to something that I need to continue pursuing…
Making quick progress with my angle grinder to rough out the general shape of the base.
Once that part is done, I’ll do all the final shaping with hammer and chisel.⚒️🏛️
Decided to dive into this project and it’s starting to take shape. Working on the base of the column first. I’m planning to modify the design of the capital so saving that for later. And it kind of just makes sense to start from the ground up with something like this..🏛️⚒️
I have this bad habit of thinking that my ideas will be easy to execute… and then they turn out to be way more complicated than I initially thought. That optimism does end up pushing me to grow my skillset and level up though, so maybe in the end it’s actually a good habit.
