i love creative projects that don't have a 'why,' don't have a 'reason' - just creating something because you want to
life's magic and beauty are all around: the vibrance of nature, infinite in its expression; the wonder of the human body - the heart that beats every moment for decades, the brain, the nervous system - the fact that we can turn food into energy and thought. spectacular. utterly incredible.
many of us cycle through a few thousand of the same thoughts day after day. a sort of prison of our own making. patterned thoughts. patterned perception. patterned experience
thunder cracks then booms
the winds roar
walls of rain crash down
the storm screams its fury
and then it is gone
sunshine pokes through the clouds
the earth is watered
the soil is rich and full
new life begins to take root
it grows and flourishes
lately, i have noticed quite a bit of fear in myself around ambiguity in life - around making choices in the context of uncertainty. i have been exploring this fear in contrast to my desire to live a magical life - one full of unexpected, unplanned experiences and opportunities, delightful surprises. if every moment of my life is planned out, strategized, placed into a big-picture goal, and fit onto a linear A-to-B path, then there is little space for magic to flow. i’ve effectively planned and strategized delightful surprises right out of my life. it seems to me that it is in the context of ambiguity and openness - coupled with positive expectation and anticipation - that magical experiences and opportunities can flow into life in dynamic and delightful ways
self-awareness is a bit like seasoning: too little, and you're gonna have a bad time; too much, and you're also gonna have a bad time
every time i ask the universe for insight on a project, i get it: a new thought, idea, awareness, perception, or understanding. curious how that works
her flip flops smack the dirt with each step, and little puffs of dust rise in protest. the sun is warm on her bare skin, and the breeze teases her hair. what a delicious day, perfect for a lazy summer walk. simple pleasures, the greatest pleasures
a beautiful moment. a breath. a heartbeat. life: vibrant, rich, full of depth and color - positioned perfectly on a sphere spinning in the infinite darkness
lack of clarity about a project may be just that. but sometimes, that seeming lack of clarity is actually our own lack of confidence and conviction in what we're doing. sometimes, these projects need to be born out into the world as they are, unstable and unsure, where they get bumps and bruises, but also where they breathe and grow and evolve into what they're meant to be
are you creating the things you want to create?
are you expressing the things you want to express?
there is:
what i think life is,
what i fear life might be,
what i want life to be,
what life actually is
i love shitty first drafts - SFDs. they're so broken and ugly and revolting, but i know there's something beautiful under that word carnage. be born my beautiful word creature!
