Maybe that plot of land truly does have something magic going on about it. Major empires through the ages have all fought to control the region and possibly lost control of the region around the time that their empires started to decline. In more recent history, the end of WWII, the British gave the land to the Jews, which correlates within a couple of decades of Jews taking control of large parts of the world (US Federal Reserve on one side of the date, US Dollar becomes completely fiat on the other side of the date; radio news, television, movies etc all started booming around that time; etc)

Leave it to Netflix to come up with exciting ideas like "crossovers" and "reboots"
