Consumers can be partially protected through reverse transaction tools. FI’s can raise the bar by putting burden of proof on the recipients after a customer claims a fraud occurred. These tools are already in place for many types of transactions. The risk exposure then is sophisticated tools that beat those burden of proof criteria, presuming a scammer would go through that extra effort versus directing resources towards more consumer victims. Then at that point, I would imagine it’s a risk the FI’s insurer assumes.
Zelle and wire transactions are fast and convenient. We are messaging on a technology that is built upon a literal better example of how to handle instantaneous transactions. If the TradFi system wants to be able to maintain the right to reverse a transaction, they can do that with cryptocurrencies (₿ isn’t a crypto). So why haven’t they?
After seeing billionaires and corporations with all the money in the world hauled before congress, bending knee to different regimes, crying victim of compulsion when cultural winds change away from their behavior, it’s hard to believe there’s such a thing as fuck-you-level money.
Meanwhile there’s plenty of good people who barely have two pennies to rub together that will stand their ground, not compromise their integrity, and face great risk to do what is right, no matter how much money is waived in front of them. They can’t be bought. They could have a boot come down on their throat and they’d still be true to themselves.
Don’t be impressed by people who have fuck-you level money, but by those who’ll say “FUCK YOU!” in spite of money at all.
Look at the Hong Kong FI case where deep fake was involved. It’s Hollywood-level heisting. How would that level of sophistication be imagined in time by the good guys to build tools against that? Let alone have a client on board to updating their own security vulnerabilities for every vector of attack they face in social engineering and their technology uses.
We may have to adopt secret handshakes and pass phrases between sender and receiver, like in the spy movies, to protect our transactions.
I feel like going for a Sunday drive zipping through the mountains listening to this song

Where are the investigative journalists? Are they gone due to governments imprisoning and killing them so aggressively the past 15-20 years?
Or is the craft dying off as traditional media declines at the hands of social media?
I’d like to say I hope they’re not caught up in the decline of traditional media, but the former is just so, so much worse.
My Nostr feed doesn’t talk about Nostr or Bitcoin much anymore.
But it’s still the place on the internet I most adore.
You can spend an hour on Twitter and be PsychOp-ed to hate anyone not like you
Or spend but a moment scrolling strangers’ posts on Nostr and instead say “oh, cool! That’s new!”
Bravo for being the happiest place on the internet.

Happy Valentine’s Day to the happiest people on the internet.

I lift my pinky like royalty whenever I’m scrolling on the nostr:npub1n0stur7q092gyverzc2wfc00e8egkrdnnqq3alhv7p072u89m5es5mk6h0 app.
We don’t need to love those lives to know how they play out.
What is the process to delete? I have multiple clients and see no such functionality in any.
I came across an old profile of a random Nostrich, which sent me down a rabbit hole of their old network. I wonder how many social graph graveyards will be created on a protocol where nothing can be deleted. https://media3.giphy.com/media/OZOJf4IidOUrZ9ePtV/200w.webp?cid=4ea4f8d567ngeu3rdgn188x3vlh52c7sfzmpv81gznudmufp&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=200w.webp&ct=g
Just came across Highlighter.com which is a web based Nostr client with build in recurring subscription billing. Load in your account, click on your avatar in the lower left corner, click on View Profile, and you’ll see a button for Setup Creator Profile, where you find the subscription model setup.
Kind of presumptuous of them that you carry the burden to justify halting the confiscation of your personal property.
Unless currency in your possession is by a licensing agreement than as a personal property, which in that case, you probably didn’t read the fine print they unilaterally updated last night at 02:37 and this is clearly all your fault.
Wait, do you think the craziest people are here? Weird, hopefully, yes, but crazy?
Sir, let me tell you about Odysee…
What about building a wallet that automatically creates a Nostr account?
The process of creating a Nostr account AND THEN having to create a wallet in Nostr, AND THEN linking it to other wallets in Nostr and out of Nostr, is pretty clunky.
Reverse uno the process seems smoother.

There’s probably an opportunity then for someone to pursue creating a client that automates the whole process soup to nuts with just a signup.
We’re still in the equivalent of assembling-computers from-kits stage.
