Manjaro’s Plasma 6 update has gone globally live today
This was a major update from Plasma 5.27 to Plasma 6.0, but also along with just about everything else, and was a 6.8 GB download for me.
It all went off flawlessly apart from one applet I use for transparent folders, which seems to still only be ...continues

INFURIATING reCAPTCHA!!!! Spent over 10 minutes on it now. OK I realised later it considers a scooter to be a motorcycle. But after getting to the end twice, I click submit only for it to say my answer wasn't correct. Of course my answer was right, I'm human!
What an utter failure if a #reCAPTCHA can't even detect a human after 10 minutes for a site I have a login for. So looks like I can't do business with Communica today!

Had lunch at the Back Area Gardens restaurant in #CapeTown #SouthAfrica today - had their beef burger

Bitwarden finally brings 2FA logins to free users
Previously, you had to pay for Bitwarden’s premium plan to add 2FA for your stored logins. Bitwarden is claiming they are the only password manager to now include 2FA logins for free.
As a paying customer, I’ve long been using Bitwarden’s 2FA for logins, a ...continues

Bill, Steve, and Gary… Computer Pioneers: Ruthless Business triumphs over Innovation
I vividly remember the DOS wars when I was using an early IBM compatible. I also remember DR-DOS being noticeably better than MS-DOS (accessing high memory etc) but I had no idea about all these tangles behind the scenes, or that DR-DOS was essentially a clon ...continues

Element X for Android and iOS is a whole new approach to the Matrix messaging app
A bit like Telegram has a Telegram X for highlighting new beta features (no neither have anything at all to do with the X network), so has Element now “ignited” their Element X messenger. It will eventually become the main Element app.
The reason it is dif ...continues

nostr:npub1mhv72ezuklca9rx3nyln234ev4yxmekxtx3gsxauda86c9evkmeq0jcqa8 good summary for support across the various platforms for each newer image format at https://caniuse.com/?search=jpeg%20xl. Sad bit is the best newest ones are nowhere near ready really for general use.
nostr:npub1mhv72ezuklca9rx3nyln234ev4yxmekxtx3gsxauda86c9evkmeq0jcqa8 LOL I see Google also involved in developing that one! But I'm going to test it a bit for compatibility as it does look worth using.
Table Comparison of 14 different Free and Open-Source Photo Libraries

nostr:npub1wq3hfjpcy95yyyq8napfl6r8450cntm3mj6dmmewq7ls5x33s3hsymqr2v from the About page: A 9-part podcast about a group of radical utopians around Chile's socialist president. Undeterred by the Cold War and machinations of their enemies and aided by an eccentric British consultant, they try to wrestle control over tech from multinationals and intelligence agencies and use it to create a more egalitarian economy. As their dream gets crushed by Pinochet's bloody coup, the Santiago Boys find an unexpected afterlife - and in Silicon Valley of all places.

nostr:npub1xugdwrwep4usd2m8rdyj3gas5t6uwhazcgyg056we97arcvkxlss67ttz0 the big question is, why can't we log in with our own e-mail and password? I don't want Google, Facebook or Microsoft (in that order of accounts) to know how often I meet with who etc.
nostr:npub1kfyp5407q79058l3ghs9vd9xt3uv2yhj48pa54fp44kt3kcdvh8qlmd0py I'm suspecting so too, but am now really waiting for more of the leak to be published to prove that. Denying it is going to doubly embarrassing. I've long suspected we're not detecting these activities as we should be.
Note: this is really part of the data import/migration from an existing Chrome browser installed, just for extensions that are already supported, and not installing from the Chrome web store
