This is scary because like it or not we need this banking system to last another 10 years minimum. Bitcoin is cool, it’s great technology, it may be the only “solution” to an unfair system, but it’s not ready and a calamitous economic event would be bad for every single person including bitcoiners. Many people on here seem deluded to believe bitcoin would make a difference currently should the large US banks fail within the next 1-3 years. It’s not ready to take on it’s role as a new financial system yet. Too many people don’t know how to use it. The transition must be very gradual. Will probably take 20 years, and nobody knows what things will look like coming out the other end. One thing is for certain, we need the unprofitable growth companies to get completely wiped out, and we need to start having people go back to working real jobs. There is too much baloney happening in the job market with a lot of dumb tech companies at the top of the stack. The FANGs are praised but at this point they are all a joke. We need stronger manufacturing, stronger industry, real companies that make real products that are profitable. Too much money is tied up in silly internet companies like Shopify, Coinbase, Roku, etc. that book 0 profit. People think Jeff Bezos was a genius for not ever booking profits in Amazon while growing it. The question is would this have been possible in a sound money world? Or would Amazon be a better company today had it grown slower and remained profitable throughout its life. Look at Walmart etc. We want to tax working people but we won’t mandate that some of these high flying growth companies actually make profits in order to survive. Did SVB fail because of their ties to this unprofitable growth minded crap or was it really just interest rates? It’s hard to tell. Hopefully we prioritize profits over growth going forward and reign in some of the economic disparity between people who actually go to work for a living and some of the tech CEOs Et Al. with stock options in unprofitable companies that moon for no reason.
