I hate that Facebook Marketplace has become the main source for online garage sales. People aren't using Craigslist like they used to. Is a fake Facebook account pretty much the only option? How does a fake account affect people's perception of you as a genuine seller who just doesn't like Facebook?

I think ads are just a lazy/comfortable way for creators to make money. They just need to believe in themselves and their product. Their audience will naturally support them.

And we know numbers are inflated because, and I'm sure this applies to most of us, I personally know many people who have made multiple Facebook (or insert other platform) accounts for various reasons. Sometimes because they aren't tech savvy and couldn't figure out how to reset their password.
