“Empires preserve their power with the stories that they tell, but just as critical are the stories they don’t—the dark silences they impose, the pages they tear out.”

The Wager, by David Grann

Running the trails I grew up on. All I hear is the crunch of the leaves, the twigs through the breeze, and the huffing and puffing of my breath. 😅 Nothing beats these hometown runs, especially in December in the midwest !!

I’m so grateful to spend the holidays here this year. I’m feeling very grounded and focused heading into 2024.

it’s officially the most awkward week of the year. happy holidays #nostr

Why is there a “status” feature on here? #nostr

Social media is repulsive

Which feeling do you choose to accept? The sorrow or the pride, the fear or the love?

Soul over ego.

I love watching my mother get excited about #bitcoin, or as she calls it, “bitty.”

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess

There’s all this beauty in the world and people still choose to go to bars every weekend. 😔

It saddens me to see people who live their entire lives within the confines of their own shells, without ever realizing how valuable they truly are — like pearls hidden beneath the surface.

Finally got some wind in these sails. This will feed the soul for awhile. 🌬️ https://video.nostr.build/86ac0da219d8930ca41718428fa014884fd31f26c893210197e3fcd7fe2181a2.mp4

In an age where new equipment and technology comes out every day, it’s easy to lose touch with the essentials.

This book has taught me a lot, and admittedly a lot of it I will have to reread when I gain more experience, but the biggest takeaway for me is how to rely on yourself, rather than fancy equipment, in the beautiful sport of sailing.

Investing in modern equipment seems convenient, but it comes at a cost. It’s more important to learn with less, not more, so when equipment fails or chaos strikes, you’ve built up the skills to handle the situation with ease, rather than being SOL when your in-mast furler breaks.

It seems daunting to immerse myself in some situations with a very “bare bones” sailboat because I do not trust myself completely. However, I know the confidence and skills will come with more time, and one day I will be the independent, self-sufficient, bad ass sailor I want to become.

I love being surrounding by old things and a dry glass of red 🏛️🍷

In the end all that matters is knowing you exist and there is love 🕊️

Nature is my mirror 🪞
