The heart of a successful citizenship by descent application is:
1. Thorough screening for eligibility; and
2. Getting the hard to get supporting documents (birth records, naturalization petitions, ship manifest records, certificates of arrival, etc.)
There can be other challenges along the way but these are the two most difficult aspects in most cases.

Passing border control with fake ID is not being off the grid; it’s being on the grid with someone else’s documents.
And your treatment is still based on the citizenship association of those docs. 🤷♂️😄
Border crossings are another control point accessible only by pledging fealty to (at least one) of your states.
A big hassle if you’re trying to cross borders off to grid but not impossible.
With or without passport, you’ll be treated according to your perceived citizenship.
If you only have one citizenship, your sovereignty dependence is totally centralized.
