A lot of people in America are currently engaged in the "gig economy". Mostly young folks for a variety of different reasons. More freedom, you control your own schedule, maybe more income and a ton of other pros depending on your field of focus.

This is great if it works for you and your family. I left my W2 gig this year (of 16 years) to acquire and grow my business with a few different 1099 contracts, making me (and my team) participants in the gig economy too.

I spend a decent part of my time seeking out potential risks, pain points that might effect us and our families. "What if?" type thought exercises.

The folks on my team are younger (basically just getting started in their careers) and one of them now has a child.

If you are not planning for these as active participants in the "gig economy". You're exposing yourself to potentially being rekt, be it financially, health wise or maybe even with your life. Don't leap towards the pros of being your "own boss" and completely ignore the responsibilities of being your own boss.

~Some old dude on Nostr that's seen a thing or two over the years.

Gd morning #Nostr fam.

We're rocking and rolling, but quiet like.

Yup, that πŸ‘‡πŸΎπŸ‘‡πŸΎπŸ‘‡πŸΎπŸ‘‡πŸΎπŸ‘‡πŸΎ

There's a bit of a passive aggressive war (mostly in harmless good jest) going on with team iOS vs Android users.

Mind you, no one is getting paid to be an active marketing or promotions agent of these 2 companies. However there's enough division in our society, so I wonder why is it happening. I mean, do you care that I'm a puma guy and your a Nike guy?!

Well, when it comes to communications protocol, folks feel a need to let you know, that your "the other".

I use both, so I have a (perhaps different) perspective. Are any of you (that use both) witnessing this soft war within your families?!

I think #1 wants some. But he can't.

However, he'll get a treat for keeping bro man company most of the day.

Not really my style or how I git down, but baby sis rented one for the week bc we needed a 7 seater.

Joint is kinda dope.

Ok, so their not yet asleep, but I need protein. So in the frigid yard of the night firing up the grill not intending to hurt anyone's feelings....but bro man needs red meat.

Freedom comes w/responsibility.

Responsibility comes w/conviction.

Conviction comes w/integrity.

~Some wise gal/guy and probably old too.

I'm totally fine with the animals. It's the bore@ss man chatter that drains my energy. But if August is a go for ya. And your peeps as well of course, ping me on a blind channel. I'll know ya.

Inside the house we have a fiat (PoS) fireplace powered by natural gas and a remote.

Outside we have a PoW fire pitt (powered by split fire wood). It's a sawed off 50 gal drum.

My first time using it. I think next summer I'll put in a proper fire pitt.

#Dogstr #1 and I in the dark and cold night chillin and content.

My natural habitat is a hut in the woods. But cold and snow is a def bonus. A natural moat to keep away the small talk chatter that bores me.

I became a landlord. But I was highly leveraged, so some might say slum lord. But I've upgraded over the years. 80%of my tenants have been with me for 5+ years. And ore-civid that figure was over 90%.

My first business was a Dunkin Donuts franchise in Connecticut. I was 27 y/o.

I hated it, but I learned a lot about running a profitable business.

John Oliver is a dweeb. The kinda guy we picked on in school. But I like what he's spitting some times.

Me too. But I have some vegans and pescatarians in the house and I'm hosting. So I go with the flow.

Spend and replace is currently being taxed. Heavily. I feel good contributing to the circular economy. But may have to put that on pause for a bit. It's a noticeable tax right now.

I love salmon. But there are those day when red meat needs to be devoured. But I'll wait until everyone is asleep. Then I'll fire up the grill and throw on those t-bones.
