Our third node, LNServerFocus, is running along smoothly as usual but it's been taken off our web app temporarily to allow our two other nodes to catch up a bit. You can alway open a channel to it though.
For your second question, you are correct that at the end of the agreed upon period, the channel will close automatically at the predetrmined closing fee (but not on Alby Hub wink wink).

We only close channels if one (or more) of the following circumstances happen:
1. A peer's node is constantly down (after trying to contact him/her)
