I’m have a bit of a quandary that I asked advice for from my mom’s group, but let’s see if Nostr advice is any different.

A 10 year old boy in our neighborhood has decided to adopt me. He saw me staining our fence a few weeks ago and stayed and talked to me for most the day and has come by just about every day since and spends 2-6 hours over at a time. He’s not a nuisance. In fact he’s super polite and helps me with everything from cooking to gardening cleaning the pool, and playing with my dog BUT I still have met his parents. I have gone over 3 times to meet them, but he says they work a lot and I left a note last time introducing myself, telling them what a great young man they are raising, and I left my phone number. Crickets. I certainly would never let my kids spend the day with a stranger, but I don’t have the heart to ban him from my house.

What would you do in my situation?

Today I was listening to one of my favorite macro podcasts talk about the Fed's meeting from yesterday. One of the best interviewers in the space, and one of his top interviewees.

And I couldn't finish it. So boring.

They were literally noting the tiniest details. The Fed's prepared statement didn't mention a rate cut in September. And then Fed chairman Powell's prepared press talk also didn't mention it. However, when asked about a September rate cut, he flipped to a page where he had a prepared statement indicating that yeah they're kind of leaning toward a September rate cut, and read it.

So they were like, "Huh! I wonder what the significance of that is. He had a prepared written statement about September, but only when asked!"

People literally judge the Fed chair's body language, facial movements, details like whether he has a prepared statement for a given question, etc. Omg.

For my work I need to note the basics of what the Fed said and all that, like the 3-minute summary of all that stuff. But the sheer excitement that these people had when discussing details like that for an hour was so banal. It seemed like satire.

First reaction: Did he seriously take credit for Bitcoin's price rise?

Second reaction: This isn't the flex that he thinks it is.

Third reaction: The money printing will probably be similar to what he did before. Maybe it's not a bad reason to vote for him.

Supply and demand - If the US (or Germany, etc) wants to dump #Bitcoin for political points and it moves the price (relative to fiat) in the short term, can you imagine what happens as more people realize its importance and competitively accumulate?
