Good morning Connie โ๏ธ๐ซ๐ซถ๐ผ
About five years ago, my mom started to struggle with her balance, she said she kept feeling dizzy when trying to walk. At first we tried to help her with therapy and sorts of yoga but that didnโt really help, we needed medical help. She had been tested multiple times on various possible causes for this dizziness, the problem was located inside the transition from her brainstem to her spinal cord.
Her doctor told her that she needed surgery to โfixโ her dizzinessโฆ
He told us it was gonna be an easy surgery.
Three years ago, we decided to go through with that surgery because things would get worse if we didnโt.
At first, we thought things were going good! She recovered well, she said she was able to walk without feeling dizzy.
But that didnโt really lastโฆ
While she was staying in recovery, she told us she kept having weird dreams, she was confused at night. So the doctors decided to do another scan, only to find out that she had an excess pressure inside her brain, she needed surgery (again).
But the damage was already done, although the medical team didnโt want to admit it, she had brain damage.
Surgeons kept telling us that everything was gonna be allright, and we believed themโฆ
Three years of rehabilitation centres, hospitals, service flats, we kept thinking things weโre gonna get better, and so did she.
She kept believing things were getting better, she did make some progress in walking tho, but the brain damage was permanent.
She needed more and more care, so we had to put her in a retirement home. She was 59 at that timeโฆ
One year ago, she passed away
She kept looking into the blue, like there was a door.
This one is for you mom โค๏ธ

โThere are places I'll remember all my life, though some have changed. Some forever, not for better. Some have gone, and some remain. All these places had their moments with lovers and friends, I still can recall. Some are dead, and some are living. In my life, I've loved them all.โ
