One of my summer projects was to build a Mastodon bot, and I did it! The bot doesn't do anything that hasn't been done before (it generates a random Wikipedia page, pulls the title and link, and posts it), but it's something *I* haven't done before. Because Twitter has cut off so many of their APIs, there's now a cascading set of security failures.
I used [REDACTED] to automatically get a user's avatar image based on their username. The service can't provide that any more.
So they want their users to supply their own API keys.
*All* of their API keys!
I've told them how irresponsible this is.
