#[6] and #[7] built a sweet blob storage solution for the #nostropical hackathon. NIPs forthcoming but here are the WIP docs. https://github.com/lovvtide/nostr-torrent.
Yes - feel free to open an issue on the repo with comment/criticism. We want to get this right.
No I noticed that too!
Here's the link to the content-addressed-media proposal. This is a rough draft - help me and @degenrocket shoot some holes in it! Next step is drafting a NIP.
PoW is a mitigation but I suspect we're going to have to do some kind humans-vouching-for humans thing.
After almost two months #[0] mentioned that it might worth to translate all nips to Chinese, I finally did it. https://sherry-pang.gitbook.io/nostr-cn/fu-lu-1-nip-xiang-jie
#[1] 我想艾特全部中文的builder~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Great work!
Right now “featured” is just the most popular accounts (as defined by number of followers) but obviously that isn’t a long term solution because it creates positive feedback where accounts that already have visibility get even more. A much better idea is to derive the list of featured accounts is from hard-to-fake metrics. Working on that now.
So before nostr I was deep into the Ethereum ecosystem. I will say that while good design is one thing but I got really tired of the polish for the sake of polish. In my humble opinion the big wave of web3 money actually set Ethereum back because it attracted so many grifters that devs who were actually working on legit projects had to compete with all those people in the eyes of outsiders who often couldn't tell the difference. Oh well.
Whoa hey Satyrion! Nice to see you! So I haven't quite finished the function yet but yes you will be able to move all your data to nostr. I was really happy that support for "long form content" (NIP-23) got added to the nostr protocol spec because that will make importing essays from the old Satellite really clean.
So much "coming soon" 🤦
Being able to browse through a bunch of threads without losing your place is one of my favorite features!
The featured feed should load just by tapping on "featured" — if it's not working that may mean that all your relays dropped the connection. They should auto-reconnect (with exponential backoff as to not spam relays :D) but I did notice in testing that occasionally they would just get dropped. It seems to happen on network change, like if you're on mobile data and then you switch to wifi. Anyway if that happens again try refreshing the app. I will also look into this more :)
Hmm Satellite does already support logging in with extensions - if `window.nostr` is detected there should be a "connect nostr" button at the top right.
