What if climate change is all just a big hoax and we end up collaborating to build a better world for literally no reason?

I dislike when a value depends on another value declared below it in a program's scope. Function hoisting gives me the ick.

In modern (especially compiled) languages it's far less likely to cause problems though, so my fear is probably irrational.

OpenTimestamps is awesome

It's a personal backup though now I'm curious, how many events do the large public relay store? Tens, hundreds of millions?

Sure

Though this prompted me to check my relay's db, which I was just using as a personal backup, and found it had 3 million events (1.2 million kind 1). I know it's 99% spam but 3 million?! That seems like a lot to me

The ancient tomes predicted the rise of the world's greatest decentralised protocol.

How I wish pure Lua/Luau had arbitrary precision numbers like Python does (as in 2^53+1 ~= 2+53). Metamethods and operator overloading make custom BigNum implementations nice to use but slow as molasses.

It'd rarely be useful, but for those things where it would, it seems like there just isn't any efficient way to do them without it.

I guess it's mainly because thorough CSAM filters aren't well available in the open-source world? Or that I don't know of any. IIRC AWS has proprietary content scanners though I doubt most people rejecting Cloudflare for the reasons in this thread will see AWS as a viable alternative.

Wow I completely forgot it existed. Docs say games are written mainly in Lua, which

I didn't know and is pretty awesome.

A syringe and some saline/saltwater sometimes works for me, not so pleasant but at least quick and easy.

Maybe if there was a #nosetr you could ask them.

Always a tiny bit extremely infuriating when trying to type in a list of 20 or so relays when every "wss://" gets autocorrected to "was".

Talked to the CEO of Nostr yesterday, they confirmed they'll be releasing Nostr 2 soon. Public keys will begin with npub2

I can't wait until we have multiple bridges on both ways between every conceivable platform/protocol, so we can all have mirrors of mirrors of mirrors of accounts, until one bridge eventually mirrors back to the same platform/protocol as the original.

Social media recursion!

Yesterday I was doing something random on my phone (probably scrolling nostr) and it abruptly died. Charging/holding power & volume buttons hasn't fixed it.

I think my beloved 7-year-old Nokia 8 has finally kicked the bucket. ๐Ÿชฆ

The first and only Law of Nostr: You can post literally anything, and somebody will zap it
