I see. Yes, I can be among those cynics, too. Especially when it comes to placing hope in politicians. The silver lining is that regardless of who is in authority, it is ultimately public opinion that enables (and disables) those authorities.

Ultimately, irrespective of the structure of society, the institutions, the positions, the roles and labels people get assigned.... we are all just a bunch of people on a rock hurtling through space. And when seen from that perspective, nothing is permanently locked up. People can change their minds, they can change roles, they can die and be replaced.
Moreso than ever in my lifetime people are very negative about government institutions. And I know why - these government institutions have consistently behaved badly, and I've commented on it many times. I watch it on Rumble, I see it on X. But I'm dogged in my resolve to not let that cause me to give up. There is always hope.
