The US has mass shootings all the time now I hear, and most of them don't make the news. I have a friend who visited for a month and just during that time he was involved in three of them! What are the odds? Sure sure he was the guy behind the trigger but still. They were happening everywhere he went!

When violence is rampant around you people tend to be indifferent to it as a coping mechanism. Saw this in Puerto Rico when I went +10 years ago, there were multiple homicides a day and people considered "normal". You were having a drink in downtown San Juan and hear gunshots, sometimes bars had to close just in case. I've lived in the Basque Country for many years under terrorism and observed same attitude in people here.
I had to hide in a store in Miami due to a mass shooting while I was heading to Nostrica. I was in the US for less than 24 hours!
😳
what?????............my friend invites me to go miami in May.... my hands are shaking.....
I hope all is well🤙
I have never heard a gunshot live.
People aren't getting the joke here 😂
Some more annecdotal evidence, but this is collected over a lifetime:
I've lived in the us for >30 years, East coast, West coast, Chicago. Never once been anywhere near a shooting or known anyone that has.
Great data point. I knew it couldn't be that bad. But has it changed this much?
I lived in the US for 35 years and never was nearby a criminal shooting (plenty of gunshots aimed at pheasants though). That waa 1970 - 2005.
It hasn’t changed much at all, outside of the cities like Chicago (who ironically have very strict gun control).
I have the same experience as powrespecter in my entire life of living in the US across multiple states, some of which are constitutional carry states that require no license to conceal or open carry a firearm.
