Nobody actually knows what Russians think about the war between Russia and Ukraine.
It is illegal for Russians to criticize Russian military operations in foreign areas.

Not a Russian, but speak the language. Many don’t care, those who disagree immigrated in two big waves, those who stayed and disagree are trying to adapt to the new reality.
This is correct
Most of the people who wouldn’t or couldn’t emigrate are just trying to stay out of it. It’s an awful reality but the prevalent idea is “I have my own problems to worry about”. It’s worth keeping in mind that the average Russian (you have to ignore Muscovites) is living on a very tight income and even when there isn’t a conflict, there are more important things to think about for them. Add in that dissent will make their unfortunate situation worse.
There are of course plenty of actual supports but the full-throated kind I don’t believe are a plurality
False. Russians living outside of Russia speak their minds freely.
💯 know a lot of russians in Europe and most of them think and speek for themselves
I used to go to Russia often in the 90s/00s. Lovely people and been through alot. As usual we are being fed psyops constantly by BS political agendas to divide and control. Another reason to separate money and State. Bitcoin was made for this
I remember reading Dead Souls and was fascinated over Nicolai Gogol’s life as a Ukrainian in the early 1800s, where everyone migrated to Moscow and the description of experience, treatment, had similar resemblance between Northern Italians and Sicilians, the later compared to the Ukraine. This of course was before communism killed creativity and ruled for over a hundred years till now - over time Ukraine picked up democracy but then the issue of the borders, ports, funds and all the past promises with Russia. That and US influence .
With regards to your post and Russia, the problem with dictatorship is that people in the country get tired and don’t fight back anymore - the world suppresses them, their own gov’t suppresses them. If they get to leave, they leave. If not, they just survive.
I’m surprise the world is not going upside down with US drone attacking Kremlin.
Reckon Finland joining NATO sends a bigger signal on might happen ? I wasn’t expecting it
kinda surprised how you and some other commenters are aware of that is going on here!
just needed to make a remark about the “us drone” thing – there were two drones and we still don’t know whose, russian media as usually just doesn’t tell much about it 🙄
Nobody knows whose drone that was. I don't think there is evidence that makes it clear one way or the other.
YouTube is not blocked in Russia, and there are numerous Russian channels that conduct interviews with people of all ages from different parts of the country. The responses vary, but one particular category stands out: the older generation. It is truly astonishing how deeply they have been influenced by propaganda. As for the younger generation, they either seem to be unaware of the situation or openly condemn the war. YouTube provides a valuable resource for gaining insights into the lives of Russians.
I'm getting pushback. Rather than reply to individual comments, my point was that they don't have free speech and so you can't be sure if they are telling you the truth, or saying what they need to so they don't get arrested.
I made a similar comment about Ukraine right before the parent post.
