The less you post, the less likely you are to get unfollowed.

I just stopped following dozens of abandoned accounts that hadn't posted in years but were still polluting my follow list.

Sounds like a killer client feature or a NIP?

At least grey them out.

Like this guy here: nostr:npub1xultu029ajgewu5k59udnuvlxfk8qcca9gdshwa9chkv966nh8nsz4r03m

Which is apparently a test account I made myself in early 2022 and somehow its posts are still saved somewhere.

What about this guy who publishes a JSON string like {"body": "...", "parent": "..."} as the content of his posts? nostr:nevent1qqsq8kzkqp6qqa8a0xs9knpsdy3crgstjv6scl22hwl08k6pnnrceeqzyp6lckkzfpekx2fm6flmp520h9nywlg0rk7xxcwn0qr2df6qak53ucs2ew6

I remember nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s being angry about this at some point, it was funny.

What client was doing this? Do you remember, nostr:npub1nmr6w7qk0ta36vxysv77jv3d5rqghfc6d8sez8240rf3gja4vsmsd2yha8 nostr:npub1qqqqqqyz0la2jjl752yv8h7wgs3v098mh9nztd4nr6gynaef6uqqt0n47m?

I don’t remember, I’ve been angry too many times

have no idea what client this was, I remember seeing some "body" stuff on content that was related to emails, some email client that was modified to work with nostr or something like that..

nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6, do you know nostr:npub1f4uyypghstsd8l4sxng4ptwzk6awfm3mf9ux0yallfrgkm6mj6es50r407? Here are some statistics ⤵︎

is there a DVM for this? there should be

I had an app for cleaning out your follow list, but I took the app offline because I now find the follow list to be a dark pattern

It saddens to search for "nobody" in my contacts. I wonder who they were? I followed them 🥹

I prefer the silent ones from the ones that only do reposts personally

This is the root of many complaints on instagram. Creators want instagram to "show their content to their followers" while being unaware that there's a side-effect of losing followers for frequent posting because of how user behavior mostly wants to constantly discover novelty rather than familiarity.

Sometimes posting frequently helps, when you're a new account and generally less discovered, but eventually that relationship changes for many (not all) creators.

I'm active. No need to unfollow me
