I've updated Bitwarden after years without updating and now it just says "vault is locked" and there is no button to unlock or anything. The entire thing just broke. The console has an error about FIDO, which is another garbage the satellite people have been forcing upon us and the "tech" community loves for whatever reason.

I already knew it, but the lesson has to be retaught every so often: never update.

I'll be trying to use 'the satellite people' in my vocabulary now.

They just orbit

Oh no... I can think of a few. My damned imagination, I hope I can keep a straight face.

If ainโ€™t broke, donโ€™t fix it.

The new bitwarden interface is gay. Like gay as donkey dick.

I've been having issues coping things from the browser extension and its super annoying

Isn't there an alternative client?

I doubt it. It's the browser extension. Every time I login since the rewrite it complains about something now. The way it works now is a downgrade from how it used to. The old version started to not work properly, then they came up with this crap and it fixed nothing. You're right, updates are a psyop

just uPdatED for a bIT buttbut still can't bring myself 2 put anything of \/alue e/\/IT o_0'

If you go that long without updating, I think that is to be expected. It's hard to make everything backwards compatible forever.

Export database as a json using one of the devices (browser extension or app), completely reinstall the bitwarden server, clearing its database.

I also recommend using vaultwaden instead bitwarden server.

If you want something even more based and simpler: keepass + syncthing

Just the extension is broken, the vault on their website works normally.

I thought about running Vaultwarden, but I don't trust myself to run servers.

Maybe I'll try Keepass + Syncthing.

Syncthing with KeepassXC or other flavor...

Yes, RTFM (F as in Friendly ;-). There was a major update which required you to do some stuff when you upgrade.
