Bluesky proves people want to be in an echo chamber. They don't want interaction with people who disagree with them. Bluesky is their new echo chamber.

I thought follow lists did that pretty well (just follow people you like). But maybe nostr needs communities or some kind of limitations on who can reply. I haven't thought about this from a technical perspective, I'm just spitballing.

I believe Nostr is eventually capable of giving every potential user exactly what they want.

relay oriented communities work well for permissions control over read/reply access

Nostr also feels like an echo chamber but it’s being diversified little by little

Bluesky is a safe echo chamber

Nostr is a dangerous echo chamber

that is nothing on Nostr is protecting you from me

you were just lucky i didn't see you until now

it isn't enough for those BlueSky rats to have everybody agree with them

they want it physically impossible for anyone to disagree

they are like Joe Biden - they expect to be given notes about what to say - and then they expect everybody to clap after they read the notes

I guess the tools to break out of the echo chamber are not as compelling as the ones that keep the user inside?

well we did have communities. i founded about half of them. but nostr:npub1ye5ptcxfyyxl5vjvdjar2ua3f0hynkjzpx552mu5snj3qmx5pzjscpknpr says that with the NIP the communities were built on they have no future ...

considering noStrudel was only one of like two clients that even supported these communities and the other one was barely functional i have to assign a fair bit of weight to the opinion of nostr:npub1ye5ptcxfyyxl5vjvdjar2ua3f0hynkjzpx552mu5snj3qmx5pzjscpknpr on this issue ...

maybe you two can discuss how to re-invent communities under a new NIP - i would be interested

the problem with old communities the founder or moderator really had no power ... all we could do is "approve" posts but even posts that aren't approved still showed and manually approving every single post by every person is obviously ridiculous ...

Reddit is still popular. It is HEAVILY moderated. In fact Fediverse is more popular than NOSTR and it is basically like Communities or Subreddits.

Maybe we could use existing Fediverse tech to build communities ? nostr:npub1q3sle0kvfsehgsuexttt3ugjd8xdklxfwwkh559wxckmzddywnws6cd26p
