I don't quite get your point, but I just wanna say this BobbyBigWheel seems to be a very unimaginative guy.

The U.S. government could fully embrace/get behind the digital gold narrative, while Congress and treasury depts still have pending legislation/rules that could effective ban self-custody and freedom to privately transact for U.S. citizens
Not to mention the unforeseen consequences of this move and how many bitcoiners (and Bitcoin miners) willing to bend over backwards for the U.S. government.
This "bitcoiners snuggling up to government for NGU" narrative is kinda weird. Who are "bitcoiners" in this situation? If it only takes a few "bitcoiners" whispering in Trump's ear to set back Bitcoin as freedom money for years/decades, what are we doing here?

I agree with you.
1. Banning self-custodity in the US would run contrary to the interest of the US government. Number goes down.
2. We run the nodes
People act like the government has any say at all in the law of code. They can run a node like everyone else if they want to signal change.
They're going to do what they're going to do. We'll focus on us
