The institution might be compelled to return African artefacts collected by the former French president and his associates
In the heart of Northern France, within the hallowed walls of a prestigious house, resides a collection of African artefacts that has ignited a contentious debate on cultural ownership and historical justice: the former domicile of French president Charles de Gaulle.
Out of the 1300 artworks collected, approximately twenty are controversial, originating from André Malraux's visit to Dakar in 1966. Primarily statues, these pieces have become a focal point of the ongoing debate.
