I just zapped #[1] 88 sats by using Damus on my iPhone to send myself this DM: "zap 88->jb55 hi there".

This worked because more-speech, which I have running on my laptop, will do the zap for me if it recieves a DM from myself to myself (an auto-dm) with that message format.

It seems to me that every desktop client could be set up this way. Then, when you use your phone you can DM yourself with a zap request and your desktop client will do the job for you.

To make this easy Damus, and other mobile apps, could allow users to create message templates. Something like: "zap {amount}-{user} {comment}". Such a template could be invoked with a single button push. It could pop up a dialog asking for the variables and then send it as a auto-dm.

I like it. Ive been using this on command line for several years.

what do you think about using reactions like this:

I can still zap people in Damus, from their profiles. The auto-DM needs a note ID.

A note id is easy to add; but before I do let's see if this is the direction we want to go. If I understand the issue correctly, Apple has said that it will, in future, not allow zaps in any form -- even in the profile.

We can completely bypass Apple's beligerence by allowing apps to send messages with payment instructions. If you send a DM to yourself, and your desktop client receives it, then the desktop _knows_ that it's you, and has the wallet connect information with which to pay the zap. So there's no custodial risk, no forgery risk, and no static from Apple. The only inconvenience is that users will have to have one and only one desktop client running at all times somewhere in the world.
