outbox is awesome but even without more outbox support this is true
there's technical scaling, network scaling but also scaling to more users.
I feel like that last thing isn't happening at all because of untested, badly implemented and on-user friendly software and services.
So, scaling is a sum of a lot of factors.
If someone can easily spin up a nostr server (which isn't the case) then you're right. But for now, I don't think nostr can scale (I hope that changes).
We just need one perfect and well animated 1:30-2:00 minute long Nostr introduction video. Don't tell too much tech stuff. Normal people don't care if it's decentralized.
BUT:
They care about if they can take their followers with them if they switch platforms. They care about getting money for content. They care about choosing algorithms.
Why do so many not want to see this truth?
large accounts are addicted to their massive follower counts on centralized controlled platforms
