It is kind of logical tbh.

Thanka for the help

Denominational or nondenominational? Their form of governance, their church constitution, and how they handle the finances in general all need to be taken into account. These things will inform how simple or complex the ability to adopt will be and how best to handle custody.

Non denominational, unless Christian union is a denomination. But the church is self governing

Probably best to chat with the elder board then. Might need to give them a pitch on how bitcoin works, why it is good for the church treasury, and discuss self custody.

They would know if there is anything in the constitution or current financial structure that need to be considered or if there is a lot of flexibility for establishing whatever structure they want.

I think base chain via sparrow and a quality hardware signer would be perfect.

Multi-sig? I was thinking custodial vie strike would be easiest bc then they have lightning for small tithes

Multi sig seems overkill to me. I think single sig + pass phase is plenty secure and not overly complex. Especially for newbs multi sig is too complicated.

Would be easy enough to have them use strike or river also for easy access to LN and an on/off ramp if needed.

Cold storage for long term savings. Custodial exchange account for everything else.

I figured multisig so itd require two people to spend(elders), more control vs security

That’s actually a good point since it’s an institution.

BTCPay Server? Build them a node? Parishioners with sats can just scan a QR code to tithe.

I prefer sovereign solutions but there is a platform made for churches to accept BTC (and shitcoin) donations called Engiven.

Would be cool if service was livestreamed so people anywhere could tune in and tithe sats, but that's a whole other can of worms. nostr:npub13ql75nq8rldygpkjke47y893akh5tglqtqzs6cspancaxktthsusvfqcg7 and nostr:npub1pvdw7mm7k20t9dn9gful8n5xua5yv8rmgd9wul88qq5dxj80lpxqd39r3u are building GodCaster though to help churches transition to the wonderful BTC-accepting digital world of Podcasting 2.0

River is your best bet there

Multisig sounds great but it's also a great way to turn them off as it is not yet easy for a beginner, and easy to messup, your best bet is to help them get a simple hardware wallet like a trezor, they will upgrade overtime.

Halp. I basically gave them a years worth of tithes at once (big enogh for a utxo) and told them they have to hodl for a year but idc if they use it for the building or missions or youth or whatever. I figured a forced hodl would help them realize its not like a cash donation burning a hole in their pocket. Also would like to contribute weekly via lightning which is not big enough for a utxo, so multiple strategies i guess

Give me a day or two and I can reach out to you about our setup at my church. I am still away at summer camp until tomorrow afternoon and have limited internet access.

I am back from the backwoods!

How would you like me to reach out? Signal? Simplex? NIP-17 DM? WhiteNoise?

Dm me your signal username and we can chat there

NIP-04 DM sent.

You're on whitenoise too eh?

How do you mean, like orangepilling the rest of the congregation, or shifting church finances to bitcoin?
