Like most contentious issues that demand immediate action, there's SOME truth to the concern. But like with any other contentious issue, people come out of the woodwork to use that hysteria to promote their own shit that wouldnt survive outside of that hysteria
Quantum computing will break Bitcoin, but not in your lifetime. You will be dead and satoshi left tools to fight it.
I doubt the timeframe would be that far ahead, but I think when the threat becomes genuine enough bitcoin will be able to adapt. And consensus is hard enough to build that its not likely to be too rushed
