I do know about it, I also use it for trading with friends. But it's basically a privacy freak club token.

Even the drug dealers now take Lightning (those that take any crypto at all), I have heard from people familiar with the matter. And they quite often don't take Monero, because they can't swap it to fiat at least in Europe on Binance 😃

I know about drug dealers using instagram or telegram but using cex makes even less sense in this line of work lol. In a dealers position I'd rather opt for decentralisation and security when off ramping than using surveillance infrastructure only because its widely adopted I guess...

In my own line of work I often accomodate clients paying in other crypto by using a swap service so I can keep the benefits of staying in monero, even though it has only the liquidity of a privacy freaks network 🙂

Yes, that's quite sensible. Lightning has good enough privacy for the dealers I guess, there's no tracking of funds, although when caught, the cops can ask where all the money wired from binance came from.

BTW I wrote about this in Cryptocurrencies: Hack your way to a better life. In two parts. One is that a wallet should allow me to pay any QR code. Zcash is coming close with interesting a multi chain dex straight from the shielded pool. The other way (receiving let's say onchain btc or tether swapped into shielded zcash) should work soon too.
