I just went to donate blood. In Italy it is quite common, you get a free breakfast (since you are not supposed to eat before donating) and a paid day off from work.

How does it work in other countries?

In urban areas, there are often blood donation drives in front of stations, and there are also blood donation rooms. You can receive snacks and drinks.

Sometimes I saw blood donation ambulances in the squares to promote it.
