Self custodial #lightning is quite easy to use now. I had some problems with that a time ago but now it seems to improved a lot.

The simplest thing is nostr:nprofile1qqsrf5h4ya83jk8u6t9jgc76h6kalz3plp9vusjpm2ygqgalqhxgp9g84ctjf embedded node on the phone. Simple, quick, works like charm. It may break but fund will be restored on chain easily. I broke my first node, not sure how. Now the second one is just working.

The other setup I use is nostr:nprofile1qqs9df4h2deu3aae83fmet5xmrlm4w5l9gdnsy3q2n7dklem7ezmwfc6c32nl LND + nostr:nprofile1qqsyv47lazt9h6ycp2fsw270khje5egjgsrdkrupjg27u796g7f5k0s8jq7y6 Hub with AlbyGo or Zeus and NWC to zap seamlessly on Nostr.

I have just today spun CLN node and connected to Zeus to test BOLT12. Just like that. Getting some incoming liquidity with Olympus is also quick job (paid elm invoice from other wallet).

Right, when it breaks it is all up to me to restore it. This is not for average Joe who might have problem choosing right program on his washing machine but still it is great progress.

When zeus implements splicing then I will switch from phoenix to zeus

I tried Phoenix wallet some time ago and it was great , just Zeus UI fits me better.

Yeah, Zeus has very good ui and ux too. I wish, they do splicing too. Then I will do it with my own node. More privacy so.

yeah, you forgot phoenix as peak loghtning non-custodial UX, I wish a lot to have something like it but that can connect every node, not only acinq.

Oh, you’re right. I was using it for a while but eventually went for Zeus. Nothing against Phoenix which is great wallet with clean UI. Just my preferences.

It takes only a few minutes to setup an embedded LN node in Zeus on mobile:

Lot of respect for developers who are trying to improve self custodial UX.

Learning by experience is the way. With Bitcoin I started testing so much new software that I haven’t touched before. A lot of breaking and fixing things. Just like with Linux.
